Rugby World Cup

Enjoyed that first half, some decent entertainment for a tournament opener. Teams handled the wet ball well after an iffy first few minutes

Far too much reliance on the video ref though. What happens if England score a slightly dodgy try, will they not show it on the big screen until after the match restarts?

That was odd, the ref should have checked it first, these games are not going to be quick

The ref signalling try should mean it can't be reversed but they should check it if there's any doubt before moving on to the conversion set-up

At least the right decision was reached but could you imagine that kind of thing in football? You'd have players surrounding the ref demanding replays on every goal and every slightly controversial decision.

I'm surprised theres not a rule about when the replays can be used. Maybe there is, maybe it's up to play restarts.

It's a cracking game. I do love a bit of Rugby....... League. Turn to 402 now Wigan are just ahead of St Helens. 23 minutes to go.

That Number 11 for Fiji is entertaining. Fiji putting up a good fight.

Opening games of any tournament are nervy for the hosts. Just hoping we can convert this lead to a win and move on.

When's the football back on?!

Anyone wanting video replays should watch this and realise that having a couple of mistakes is better than the ball never being in play.

Tried to watch rugby, still not quite convinced as you'll tell :D Liking my England/New Zealand sweepstake combo though...

MOM for me was Nadolo. Danced past a few English players and a well caught try.

Yes better than i thought we'd get too. Fiji are good opposition for the fourth ranked side in the group, all four in the top nine in the world. Really is a group of death.

All four in the top nine, but there is a massive gap in quality between the top eight and the rest.

As tough as England's group is for two places between Australia, England and Wales. Scotland's group is probably just as close for the second spot and anyone of Scotland, Samoa, USA or Japan could finish second. Probably more down to how poor Scotland are these days, bit gives the other teams hope.

Tonga Georgia.
Georgias number 8 putting in a good performance. Tongas number 8 has a try ruled out for a close called forward pass. Some good place kicks early on. Georgia look better to me at the moment.

And who would blame players for doing that? I can understand a fourth/fifth official correcting a blatently terrible decision (we all know that was how Zidane was caught in the 2006 WC final), but you can't have the ref using tv as a officiating by proxy, otherwise just not have a ref at all and it totally destroys the flow of the game.

Having said that, I can see in the not too distant future offside in football being an automated decision using sensors.

You can bring anything into football you want but until the players learn respect and stop constantly cheating, it will always be badly officiated.

Canada denied a try, but it did look forward. Shame for them, but Ireland are several classes above.

Wide open and could result in England playing South Africa in the next round.
