Glastonbury 2016

Post by llama »

Tickets on sale this Sunday at 9am.

No festival in 2017 so if you don't get them this time round, 2018 will be your next chance.

I'm part of a group of 10 who will all be trying on Sunday morning. All fingers and toes are crossed - I'm desperate to go after missing out this year.

Anyone else registered and giving it a shot?

Well I hope there are plenty more people put off by that rumour. The less competition on Sunday morning the better.

I would probably go and watch Coldplay to be honest.

My prediction for Pyramid Stage headliners: Foo Fighters/Oasis/David Bowie

Heard very good things about Benicassim. A few friends went last year, they raved about it. Could be an option if I don't get Glasto tickets.

Any luck?

Our group managed to get sorted at 9.20am.

There is a Glastonbury in 2017 now, the fallow year pushed back til 2018.

Nice one, kingcurtley. I got a ticket too 8-)

Our group was sorted after about 10 minutes. I had no luck at all but thankfully a friend came through. We all kept trying to get back in and buy some more for another group, but no joy. Sold out after 35minutes.

Very excited now! Can't wait for the line-up.

haven't a clue about the latest good bands these days but if i was at this barca festival id go see tame impala as I like some of their songs, would definitely go see brian Wilson do pet sounds, one of the greatest LP's ever! and would also see last shadow puppets. excellent debut LP and am looking forward to miles and alex's new songs together. then id get hammered and throw rotten cabbages at radiohead

The only one on there I'd be excited about seeing would be PJ Harvey

The idea of Ben Watt with Bernard Butler appeals to me somehow. After discovering the Courteeners miles down the line up at Jersey Live a few years ago I'm not so programmed against the minor acts as some can be. Present company excepted.

That's a seriously decent line-up for Primavera.

If I didn't have Glastonbury tickets, I would be all over it.

There is the Vieilles_Charrues_Festival as well. Below gives you the gist of the Glastonbury double booking of bands.

25th year. Price for 4 days is 148 euros, roughly £110.

Im hoping a few of those are on at Latitude.
Im not allowing myself to hope too hard for Radiohead, I assume they are too big for Latitude... but given Thom's previous affiliations (not least last year) haven't totally given up hope.

PJ Harvey on the other hand has to be a realistic hope.

Have been tentatively considering Primavera; but £800 upwards for flights have put the blockers on that idea :(

Shame (but probably for the best).

Ryan Air and Easyjet (from Liverpool/manchester).

(And for clarity, that was the price for 3 of us... so around £270 each).

There are still return flights available for around £150-160*

Yep...the worst kept secret in Music is out. Coldplay become the first band to headline the pyramid stage four times.

I'm not a Coldplay fan by any means - some of their stuff is OK. It will most likely be a decent show, but I very much doubt I will be there.

I'm pretty sure the other two headliners will come from this bunch: Adele/Radiohead/Muse/Foo Fighters.

126 days to go 8-)

I must admit I would be totally gutted if I bought tickets for a festival and Coldplay turned out to be the headliners. Unfortunately this shows the complete lack of guitar orientated bands around at the moment with a more than one album back catalogue. Still, Coldplay got to be 10,000 times better than Kanye.

Any other festival and I would agree with you, but Glastonbury is very different. There are over 100 stages to choose from. Unless you have been there, you can't begin to imagine the scale of it. This is how they can sell out within 30 minutes of going on sale, months before they even announce a band. If Coldplay on the Pyramid stage doesn't appeal, you just go somewhere else.

Always wanted to try Hellfest. That's a strong looking line-up this year. Loads I would watch: Bad Religion, Volbeat, Janes Addiction, Ramnstein and Slayer stand out for me. Lovely stuff!

If you're not keen on Coldplay or Muse, seeing them live might change your mind somewhat... there's a reason they're serial headliners.

Oh yeah. They're both massive bookings - just not really my thing. No doubt they will both put on great shows. Hoping Radiohead get the Saturday night spot.
