Cloud storage
I currently use Onedrive (15gb), Google Drive (15gb) and Dropbox (51GB).
Anybody know of free cloud storage that offers decent data amounts?
It's a growing market and new offers are always springing up

Re: Cloud storage
Google Drive has no limit when you're using Google Docs/Sheets documents. I use the other two as well and have an Amazon Cloud Storage account and a Box account which I don't use at the moment.

Re: Cloud storage
Isn't Google photos also limitless and doesn't count towards the drive total?

Lo-res photos are free (low res seemingly meaning anything short of print quality)Surprised wrote:Isn't Google photos also limitless and doesn't count towards the drive total?

Re: Cloud storage
Photos less than 16 megapixels are regarded as low res by Google

Re: Cloud storage
There are offers popping up in China for 50TB or something stupid like that - trouble is you need to navigate Chinese websites, often download an app that I wouldn't trust not to hijack your phone somewhat, and of course there's slower transfer times because the data centres are all based on the other side of the globe.
If you know someone who wouldn't mind plugging a box in at their house and connecting it to their router you can buy 8TB cloud boxes for a few hundred quid now (or smaller 3-5TB ones for 100-150) - obviously that's equivalent to a fair few months of subscription fees for the monthly services but it's a decent amount of storage and a one-off cost for the same sort of off-site duplication and web access (in fact you can possibly put better security in place because you're in control of the box...)

Re: Cloud storage
I saw a Chinese one that offers 10TB but as you say it's all in Chinese and I wouldn't have a clue what I would be doing.
I have found some others that seem good.
One gives 25GB for free and only 10 Euro for 100gb and another that offers 250gb for free and non account holders can stream your movies directly from a url you create.

Re: Cloud storage
If you have OneDrive, you can link it to a pCloud account and get 50Gb free. Check out the freebies section of hotukdeals.com for more info.

Re: Cloud storage
Do you guys use 'the cloud' for your main storage or just as a back up??
Not sure I'd risk my music or photo collection to some random company in the ether, rather have it on a (backed up) separate hard drive, physically in my possession. Am I just old school??

Re: Cloud storage
Use it as a tool to transfer large amounts of files abd to store music, movies and photos if im travelling and dont want to lug around a laptop or external drive.
It's also good for sharing files with family and friends.
