HELLO FISO!

I'm Russ from http://www.oulala.com/en/

Oulala is…..
A weekly FANTASY FOOTBALL game.
That is 100% FREE TO PLAY.
With EXCELLENT PRIZES up for grabs.

The Game
Oulala gives you the opportunity to create a team with players from the five major European football leagues (England, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain). Therefore, you can choose from nearly 3,000 players and 98 different teams!

Scoring System
A sophisticated scoring matrix system has been created by our internal team of statisticians. Most other games limit themselves to 10 to 20 criteria...our system includes a total of 70, plus all scores are updated in-play live too!

Mobile App - Live Changes
For the first time in the Fantasy Football industry you have the possibility to make live substitutions and formation changes to your team. Your star forward does a metatarsal or your midfield maestro is subbed off, you have the ability to make in-play tactical switches.
And what better way is there to manage your team on the go than via our Apple and Android Apps via your mobile handheld devices.

Circles
You also have the option to set up leagues to play against your friends, family and work colleagues. You can either simply follow other members or set up your own circles that can be open, closed or secret.

FISO CIRCLE NAME: FISO1

Prizes
On Oulala, you can win great prizes every week! The best THREE managers will be able to choose the prize THEY really want, among a selection of cool prizes.
For example, here’s what the winner will have a choice from this week.

If you have any questions, feedback or you just fancy a natter about the game then please do not hesitate in letting me know, I'm here to help!

The Oulala Champions League Midweek Ponderings...

Paris Saint Germain v Bayer Leverkusen

6' Sidney Sam scores the first goal of the evening for Leverkusen in Paris in the Champions League.
Sam is the 100th best midfielder of 1,269 midfielders on Oulala within the big five European Leagues with 365 points and considering he spent two months on the side lines that ain't bad! Will he make your team this weekend?

13' Marquinhos equalises for PSG to make it 1-1.
Marquinhos is the 251st best defender of 1,062 defenders on Oulala with 252 points. As he has only started 11 of 28 league matches this season is he a risk worth taking? Are you tempted?

53' Ezequiel Lavezzi turns the tie around putting PSG 2-1 ahead.
Lavezzi is the 76th best striker of 675 strikers on Oulala with 280 points. With a home game against St-Etienne at the weekend does he appeal?

Barcelona v Manchester City

67' Lionel Messi, who else, finally gives Barcelona the lead in the second half against Manchester City, 1-0.
Messi is the 5th best striker of 675 strikers on Oulala with 776 points. Without looking can you guess the four strikers with more points than him?
Are you brave/mad enough to leave him out this week or actually.... any week??

89' Vincent Kompany denies Victor Valdes the cleansheet scoring a very late equaliser, 1-1.
Kompany is the 154th (Yes, 154th!) best defender of 1,062 defenders on Oulala with 352 points. Bowing out of the Champions League tonight and with the Premier League title now the last trophy City can claim is he now a viable option?

90'+1 Daniel Alves strikes late for Barca to make it 2-1, unbelievable late goal action here.
Alves is the 445th best defender of 1,062 defenders on Oulala, he's worse than Kompany! The Brazilian always has a goal up his sleeve and with defenders scoring more points when scoring goals on Oulala get him in!

Thanks bloggie,

A FISO circle is a great idea, it'll give us at Oulala a good gauge of how well the Fantasy Football enthusiasts at FISO are performing, we expect one of you, if not more, to win soon! :D
I've now added it to the original post.

I had a go this week, best of a test really but I like the look of it. Complex scoring so lots to think about :)

Nice to see it has quite a few playing, hopefully it will be a big game next season

Hi Chrisharry12345,

It is interesting that you mention the scoring system.

We wanted to create a Fantasy Football game that is as close to Football reality as possible and Oulala most definitely is.
For example on Oulala Goalkeepers are the only players that receive clean sheet points, not defenders. Defenders are rewarded for individual actions such as tackles, interceptions and cleared headers amongst other things.
Other games make it too easy to throw in a block defence and gain a huge points total as 5 players have benefited from that. That is dull and boring and lacks any real skill.
Oulala is a challenge and you need to think outside the box to succeed at our game but there is definitely a way to hit the top consistently.
In the 34 weeks we have been live one of our players has won a total of 4 times and another has won our game 3 times. Those two players currently top our hall of fame.

Thanks,

Russ

Fair enough. In my opinion though the main aim of a defence is to keep a clean sheet. Why should a player thats made 10 interceptions but fluffed up two backpasses meaning he conceded two goals score better than a defender that is part of a defensive unit that shut out the opposition attack?

I think a balance of both would be better personally :)

That's an interesting point Chrisharry12345 but you could counter balance it with...

The aim of the 'team' is to keep a clean sheet not just the defenders, and team is the crucial word, midfielders track back to do their defensive work but in most games are not rewarded for that.
Look at Willian, Rooney and Suarez for example, attacking players that put a big shift in defensively, why should defenders be rewarded but not these types of players? You have to draw the line somewhere and that somewhere is Goalkeepers only.
Defenders still score points for the defensive work they put in and handsomely at that.
Take a look at Oulala's top points scorers currently.... There are 4 defenders in the top 10.
On Oulala we wanted a real balance of points per position, defenders and defensive midfielders are rewarded for exactly what is expected of them just as attacking midfielders and strikers are, they're all expected to do a job for the good of the 'team'.

Thanks,

Russ

Ok, I've just registered for this game and have signed up for week 36.

Crikey, what a culture shock! My own fault entirely - I've just stayed in my comfort zone with the Premier League over the years and have paid no attention to European or international football.

My plan is to use these last few weeks of the season as a way of familiarising myself with players other than Messi, Ronaldo and Bale! Fingers crossed, my new-found knowledge will then help me with Oulala 2014-15 and hopefully the World Cup :)

So, now I've picked my team + subs from the huge database of players and am now waiting to see how the live substitutions work in practice. (Not a carefully chosen team I hasten to add (like so many of my teams :( ) - just 2 big names I'd heard of and then 17 others costing not-a-lot  )

But unfortunately I've forseen a small snag for me regarding live substitutions in that I don't have Sky TV. Does anyone know: are there any (legal  ) ways of getting a good blow-by-blow English commentary of each German/French/Spanish/Italian match? Sorry I have to ask this, I'm sure it's obvious but as I say I've been so negligent regarding European football.

I hope someone can help :)

To do well at this game, do you need to be in front of a computer with live match commentary of the European league
games, so that you can perform live subs?

If Yes, then I think that will rule out a large portion of the FF community who have other things in their lives than
football, ie a family.

Hi guys,

@jeffmcgow - Yes you're right, Oulala is a great way of familiarizing yourself with WC players, that'll give you an extra edge in WC Fantasy Games in the Summer
2 + 17 = 19 ? Minimum 11 players, maximum 17, I expect you meant 2 + 15?
Try http://www.livescore.com/ for scores and http://uk.soccerway.com/ for fixtures/lineups plus of course the Oulala fixture list.

@wandacatvenus - We've had many winners that have made no substitutions to their teams so no it is not essential, obviously it helps just in case one of your starting 11 doesn't start for example so it is very possible to succeed without subs.
We understand people have other commitments, that's why they have the option to pick 11 players without subs or 11 with, both options have been successful :D

Thanks,

Russ

Ah, yes I did mean 2 + 15  Comes from having a maths degree - my arithmetic is shocking at times.

And silly me, of course! Once I saw your suggestion of http://www.livescore.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://uk.soccerway.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; it dawned on me that there's http://espnfc.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as well.

I'm now going to look up some of the players in my week 36 team and see how they are performing in week 35. I'm interested in seeing how many dodgy players I've selected :D

I haven't quite got my head around the Oulala days yet - at least I don't think I have :?

I'm looking at the Bundesliga fixtures for Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th and notice that they are all Oulala day 27.

Now, assume I have a SV Werder Bremen Midfielder (playing Tue) and replace him with a Hamburger SV midfielder (playing Wednesday) after 80 minutes. Does my Hamburg player score only from minute 81 on the Wednesday or does he get a full 90 minutes. If I've read the rules correctly it's the former.

Sorry if this is an obvious one but I'm keen to iron out any misinterpretations.

Hi jeffmcgow,

Don't apologize, I'm here to help

The 27 represents the Bundesliga match (ie. all Bundesliga teams have played 26 league matches so far).
The Oulala day is Oulala36 (the 36th gameweek if you like).

In the scenario you've used your Hamburger player does score from the 81st minute yes, that's assuming your Bremen player is still on the field at that time. If your Bremen player came off in the 60th minute in real play and you made the transfer in the 80th minute you'd still score points with your Hamburger player from the 61st minute, in this scenario the transfer must be made before the 89th minute and the incoming player mustn't have played his 61st and latter minutes yet.
So you've read the rules correctly, I just thought I'd add a similar scenario

If you or anyone has any questions, no matter how obvious or small I'm happy to help.

Thanks,

Russ

I've thoroughly enjoyed my first crack at Oulala.

My team is rubbish, I'm doing badly but the game mechanic is really slick. Currently sat on 84 points in 520th place for the week with E. Cambiasso, J Xumetra and A Griezmann to come tonight. 80% of the players are still a mystery to me (these 3 included!) but I hope to keep plugging away with this competition and increasing my familiarity with the other players.

OK, I'm doing badly but if I can keep improving my placing each week I'll be more than chuffed :)

Blunders made by me in Oulala36:

1) Having a subsitute goalkeeper whose team kicks off before the goalie in my starting XI.

I chose Perin of Genoa as my starting goalie who kicked off on Wednesday - he sat the actual game out on the bench but I couldn't change him beacuse my sub goalie played on Tuesday. Mea culpa.

2) Picking a striker who was playing at home to Bayern Munich. How was I to know that Bayern Munich were a good team :P

After 20 minutes Adrian Ramos had scored 2 points and Hertha Berlin had had something like 20% possession so I whipped him off and brought on a sub. A wise move? No!!!! He went on to earn a penalty and convert it ending up with 61 points! My sub scored -3!

As a weekly winning score seems to be about 500 this 61 would have been quite tasty.

So, disasters aside this is a great game and I've already started thinking about my choices for Oulala week 37.

Still can't be believe this game is free to enter! 8-)

Big oaks from little acorns grow. Just the two of us in the Fiso1 circle - bloggie and I - but hopefully more fisoers will join in as word spreads.

My Oulala week kicks off at 14:30 with Ricardo Rodriguez in the VfL Wolfsburg v Eintracht Frankfurt match, followed by Curtis Davies and Edin Hazard at 15:00.

Exciting stuff :D

Yes, it would be good if more could join the FISO circle (FISO1).

Ricardo Rodriguez, Wolfsburg's Swiss answer to Leighton Baines, left back, penalty taker, goal scorer, goal maker, many similarities, excellent player IMO and he scored a relatively decent 39 points this week.

Curtis Davies and Steven Caulker are the stand out premier League defenders in Oulala this season and the former still not near the England squad, criminal!!

Gareth Bale and Marco Reus were the guys to have this week with 146 and 116 points respectively, amazing stuff!!! :D
