Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
A thread to lead you through my thoughts and changes for the control team for this season's Egg Cup
Starting XI
Vorm 3.3
Walker 4.1
Cahill 4.0
Hangeland 3.4
Gibbs 3.7
Valencia 4.5
Gerrard 4.4
McLean 3.7
Lambert 4.9
Jelavic 5.8
Aguero 6.7
Total 48.5m
Obviously I did not have the benefit of the two free pre season transfers and the thought behind my team was to have no more than one player from any team and to have a mix of proven scorers and enablers and to leave a bit of wriggle room in the transfer kitty.

Re: Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
My intention was to leave the team as is until the international break but Aguero's injury meant that I was going to have to make a transfer sooner than expected. Players who were on the radar were the likes of Michu, RVP and Eden Hazard but I decided to just make the one swap and I put Tevez in. An instant reward with a goal against Liverpool but I knew there were still areas of the team to be addressed but I decided to hold my nerve due to the possibility of injuries when on international duty.

Re: Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
So the internationals have been and gone and my team has largely escaped unscathed. My hope is that Michu et al don't continue scoring at the rate they have been before I decide which way to go with this lot.

Re: Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
This week I had a look at my scores before today's games and the cumulative scores were as follows;
Gibbs 18
Lambert 18
Tevez 17
Vorm 13
Cahill 12
Jelavic 11
Valencia 9
Gerrard 9
Walker 5
Hangeland 5
McLean 4
So surprise, surprise the man who most got rid of is one of my joint top scorers. This earned RL a stay of execution but the bottom 5 are going to have to up their games before they get shipped out.
I had the intention of making a couple of transfers today but when I couldn't get on the site at lunchtime I decided to do a bit of tortoise hugging for a wee while longer.

Players On The Radar
Some players who have either been scoring well or I have liked the look of over the past few weeks;
Arsenal
defence: (apart from Jenkinson who looks like someone could rip him a new one any second soon). That said, they've not really had much up against them so far.
Cazorla:
Diaby: (although now nursing one of his regular injuries)
Podolski:
Chelsea
Ivanovic: goalscoring start and a couple of clean sheets
Hazard: CK or not CK? Looks formidable.
Everton
Fellaini: Great start against United but fading a bit now?
Liverpool
Sterling: One to keep an eye on if he keeps getting starts. Looks like he might have been the perfect foil for Andy Carroll, had they kept hold of him!
Manchester United
Buttner: Could he oust Evra for the left back berth?
Kagawa: Rested today but has looked sharp.
RVP: Doing what RVP does and pleased to see he returned from Holland duty injury free.
Sunderland
Fletcher: started off really well at SofL
Swansea
Rangel: Solid start and gets forward lots.
Michu: obviously
Tottenham
Dembele:
Dempsey: both worth keeping an eye on.
Wigan
Maloney:
Kone: Maybe only both as enablers but they both have something albeit in one of the lesser teams.

Re: Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
A good Eggcup starting team with a real mixed bag of 'do I keep them or do I sell them' players to make it interesting at the start. Hindsight though showed it to be missing loads of players that became (near) must-haves and included some who let us down big time (like Jelavic). Lambert was a bit of inspiration but I and many others didn't have faith. My variation on it was only 129,000th in the starting XI league.thelip wrote:Starting XI-

Amazing stuff by Neath Boy to win the Premier League and get 251st nationally with that starting point.
You back to do it again next year Lip if we don't get a 'real' Hansen ???

Re: Egg Cup Starting team 2012/13
I wasn't sure that he understood my "got any ideas"? so clarified it to be about the starting X1.
I wasn't expecting a definitive answer just engaging in some post season egg chat with our Lipmeister.
