Re: The Egg Cup League 2 2012/13
Topspur's comment above made me realise we were well overdue for a catch-up of our various line-ups etc. So here we go with the full list of teams - as usual, let me know if you spot any mistakes.
First of all the "who's on the naughty step?" bit. Just like last time I checked, virtually all transfers made had been correctly posted on this thread, so thanks to everyone for doing that. Having been through all the posts since the last update, I came up with the following few queries...
Robot - I found two unreported changes, but I'm guessing that these were changes you have only just made and which you'll be posting on here prior to kick-off tomorrow. So the table below shows you with 9 transfers left. The two changes were:
Gibbs Jagielka
Michu Oscar
Paulgrinny - I think you forgot to report an earlier Enrique-Luiz change?
Topspur - I think you forgot to report a Sterling-Walcott swap?
Skiffer - Looks to me like your team has 4 names that weren't reported - Ben Arfa, Arteta, Walcott and Aguero. So I have reduced your number of transfers left in the table from 22 to 18, but I guess you may have made more. Can you confirm the number of transfers you have left?
Apart from that, there were no issues so thanks again to everyone for getting their declarations in
Just like last time, Van Persie is the most common pick - only ADK doesn't have him. Cazorla now is also picked by 11 out of 12 of us, with only Paulgrinny not having him.
At the other end of the scale, the real differentiators out there (players only picked by one of us) are as below. Of course, now that we are approaching the business end of the season, some of these have been recently selected as quite deliberate differentiators, and the list is noticeably longer than earlier in the season. As usual however, while some of these names look inspired picks, others perhaps don't look quite so good
Aguero (Skiffer)
Arteta (Skiffer)
Bale (Jag)
Bassong (ADK)
Begovic (Jag)
Ben Arfa (Skiffer)
Cleverley (PaulG)
Hart (HogM)
Hazard (Skiffer)
Huth (Dude)
Jagielka (Robot)
Krul (Dude)
Lampard (Topspur)
Luiz (PaulG)
Oscar (Robot)
Sessegnon (Dude)
Shawcross (Jag)
Sturridge (HogW)
Szczesny (Topspur)
Ramires (Robot)
Torres (ADK)
Valencia (PaulG)
Zabaleta (Topspur).
I noticed in one of the other Egg Cup divisional threads that it had started to highlight the number of players who were still in the FA Cup (so potentially getting extra games), so I have done the same here, with all those players who are still in the FA Cup in bold.
Surprisingly (as I haven't been paying much attention to this so far), I have 9 players in the cup which is the joint highest, along with my fellow hog, Hogweed, and Robot. On the other hand, ADK, Ashers and Jag are the three with the fewest, each with just 6 players still involved in the cup.
And, finally, the Tinkerman Trophy...
At one end of the scale we have the tortoise-hugging Nathan247, who could yet make a big move up the table if he uses his 21 remaining transfers wisely.
At the other extreme, the current leader in the race for the Tinkerman trophy is PaulGrinny (just 7 transfers left) - PaulG is now seriously threatening to retain the trophy he "won" in last year's Egg Cup Div 3 He is being followed closely by Topspur (8) and Robot (9).
Anyway - here's the table, let me know if you spot any mistakes...

Re: The Egg Cup League 2 2012/13
Update time.
Thanks in part to 2 goals from Fellaini, Hotpot extends his lead at the top and is now 20 points ahead of Jag.
Meanwhile top score of the week comes from Dude, whose decision to drop RVP seems to have worked... so far, at least. He's up two places in 5th.
Only other change in the table since last time is at the bottom, where Nathan edges back in front of ADK, but Skiffer's lowest score of the week means he is still very much rooted to the bottom of the table.

Re: The Egg Cup League 2 2012/13
And (while I'm on a roll) here's a quick update to the team lists, thanks for all your comments on the last one.
As usual, correct me if I'm wrong guys, but... pulling this together has revealed a scandal right up there alongside the fixing of a champions league match (well, maybe...). There have been two undeclared transfers already, in the three days since the last post.
These include a fairly predictable swap by Hotpot and a perhaps less predictable change from Robot...
Hotpot: Gibbs Zabaleta (10 left)
Robot: RVP Aguero (8 left).
I understand that Jag is lobbying for a points deduction (of at least 21 points?) for these two rule-breakers, but it seems likely that each will escape with a warning this time around.
Here's the updated table.

Re: The Egg Cup League 2 2012/13
And finally
Around this time of year, thoughts naturally turn to promotion and relegation. So while Hotpot and Jag fight it out for the title, the rest of us might be interested in how likely we are to go up or down.
There are of course three automatic promotion places, so as it stands Topspur would go up with Jag and Hotpot. Similarly, there are three automatic relegation places, which at the moment look like being occupied by Skiffer plus any two from Ashers, Nathan and ADK.
But before the majority of us in boring mid-table positions give up as there's nothing to play for, I have done a quick check (some of you will remember that I did something similar for Egg Cup League 3 around this time last year).
Every year there is always a bit of churn with some of the current players dropping out and new players applying to join in. The new boys always start at the bottom, like many of us did last year in League 3. This means that the drop-outs create extra promotion places for the rest of us.
Obviously this will vary year by year depending on the number of drop-outs, so there can never be any guarantees (aside from the three automatic slots), but I have just checked the last two years for League 2. Those years would predict that the top 7-9 will get promoted.
So on that basis... if you manage to stay out of the bottom 3 you have a good chance of promotion.
Just thought I'd mention it

Re: The Egg Cup League 2 2012/13
Interim update ahead of the weekend's games.
With the highest weekly score so far (59 points), Jag has closed back up on Hotpot at the top, Hotpot's lead now down to 5 points.
Topspur's 53 points see him consolidate third place, while I move up two places to fourth, in the only change in the pecking order.
Paulgrinny's 25 points was the lowest of the week and he will surely now be starting to look over his shoulder. There's still a bit of a cushion between him and the bottom four but, with his transfers dwindling, he may yet get dragged into the relegation scrap.

Podolski and Walcott out and in come Lamps and Mata for the 3 for 1 and that leaves me with 5 transfers. Hotpots pressure is starting to tell on my mental state at the top!
