Update prior to today's games...

Hotpot not giving up the title just yet and he claws back some of Jag's lead - this time last week it was 26 points, that has now been halved to 13 with two weeks to go. Jag is out of transfers having got rid of Michu with his last one, while Hotpot (who currently still has Michu) has one transfer left. Could yet go either way and, although the two teams are similar, a Tevez goalfest later today could see Hotpot back in the lead.

I remain a distant third, while the best score of the week so far goes to Robot who moves up a place to 4th.

At the bottom, Ashers has been trying to make those remaining transfers work for him as he seeks catch Paul G and escape the relegation zone. Paul G has been out of transfers for a while and, as a result, his team includes... a less than impressive strike force of Suarez and Jelavic  ...the crocked Gerrard in midfield... and no players featuring in the extra game, today's FA Cup Final... whereas Ashers has no less than 6 potentially involved at Wembley. At this late stage 44 points is a big gap to make up, but you never know.

24 hours later and, with yesterday's shock result, the Tevez goalfest that Hotpot was hoping for did not happen. Jag's lead has been cut by just the one point - Hotpot is now 12 points behind.

Hotpot still has that one transfer left, and has yet to swap out Michu... but now has another issue, in that (unlike Jag) he has Zabaleta.

Meanwhile, in the relegation scrap, none of Ashers's FAC players hit the headlines, but the sheer number of them means he has made some inroads into Paul Grinny's lead - it's down from 44 to 37. Still quite a healthy lead at this late stage, and Ashers's team includes Zabaleta... but if my sums are right, Ashers still has six transfers left, so this one may not quite be over yet.

Top score of the week so far is me - this team is my only one that still has Lampard, which kinda helped yesterday. 8-)

I also have Hazard

Will probably go Hazard > Walcott on Tuesday. And Jersey will then score 3 goals in 2 games and win me the league :P

Oh yeah, forgot about him!

Totally agree with that plan - the Hazard-Walcott swap is what I have planned for my one remaining transfer tomorrow.

As long as Walcott wins Arsenal both games and they get their CL place then I wouldn't begrudge you the title Hotpot.

(although if Walcott does have a blinder and I win the league by a solitary point that will also do  )

Considering Hotpot's season you've done very well to be in front Jag.

I'm sure the numerous checks Hotpot will be picking up will be a small consolation if he doesn't pick up an Egg Cup.

With a runners up spot and a cup final defeat last season I'm hoping that I will finally get my hands on some silver....sorry, Earthenware!

The egg cup is a prize money can't buy and I'm sure he would rather swop all those cheques for it. ;)

The above discussion makes interesting reading, but after careful consideration, I have decided, I'd rather have the cheques

But of course as these options are not mutually exclusive I want both! :P

Now come on Tottenham some minus points for Stoke defenders works well for me here...

OK, time to use that very last transfer before heading off to the Madstad this evening to see what may well be Reading's last home Premiership match for a few years.

It's the pretty obvious Hazard-Walcott switch for me...

Its all set up nicely for a Super Sunday shootout!

Taking out same players it comes down to -

Jag - 1828points + Begovic Shawcross Nastasic Lampard and Van Persie

v

Hotpot - 1826points + Cech Zabaleta Walcott Michu and Tevez

Tough to call, a lot will depend on the Stoke defence away to Southampton.

Go Saints! :P

Ever been a closer finish than this? Don't think Lampard will play for me as with Hazard out he is likely to play tonight and then be on the bench for Saturday. Could do with City going with Dzeko and Aguero after Tevez's 90 mins last night.

Will be an interesting last day that's for sure.

Good luck Hotpot!

Think Hotpot has it, Saints could go 10th if we win and we will want to finish on a high. Walcott and MIchu have good potential for points, Lampard may well be on the bench if he plays in Europe. Only hope is RVP and I will be cheering him on like you Jag in other SLs.

Good tussle at the top.

As predicted by Jag's other thread, he has managed to hold off Hotpot
you-can-keep-your-cash-leagues-t102914.html
...so Jag runs out the winner by 8 points. :D

Terrific scrap guys, Jag took the lead right from the start, but Hotpot gave him a very good run for his money and just a few weeks back looked like he was going to nick it. It was a two horse race for a very long time and no-one (not even me  ) could make any inroads into the big gap between you two and the rest of us. Commiserations to Hotpot and many congratulations to Jag, who goes one better than his second place finish in League 3 last year.

So the three automatic promotion slots were taken by Jag, Hotpot and myself :D , although as mentioned earlier in the thread, there could be a few others coming up with us if there are any dropouts in the leagues above.

Just like last year in League 3, Paulgrinny bagged the Tinkerman Trophy by using up all his transfers like they were going out of fashion. As some of you will know from last year, the Tinkerman Trophy is made in the shape of a tortoise, to remind all of the need for more tortoise hugging in the future. And here's Judy, my Personal Assistant, to once again make the presentation...
Trophy.png
Despite using all those transfers so early, Paul just managed to stay out of the bottom three, leaving the relegation slots to be filled by Ashers, Skiffer and ADK.

Final table...

Manager Team Name Total Week Goals Overall Pos
1 James AndersonGordon Jagged Egg 1864 50 119 2091
2 David Nuttie Hard Boiled Hotpot 1856 53 120 2539

4 Ross Banyard Hogweed Good Eggs 1748 61 108 21104

6 Jonathan Harrington Dudes Eggy Soldiers 1727 59 103 28653
7 Andrew Stevens Robots Fried Eggs 1708 28 98 36778
8 Thomas Miller Nathan's Eggy 247 1661 54 86 60961
9 Paul Grinstead Pgtips 1576 25 91 110956
10 Ashley Bloodworth Ashers Egg Sandwich 1545 30 100 127939
11 Rick Perkins Skiffer Chips 1462 61 86 165138
12 Alistair Batchelor Adks Egg-Stravaganza 1442 24 73 172496

So... congratulations/commiserations (delete as appropriate) and thanks to everyone for keeping their transfers up to date on here... and I'm already looking forward to life in League 1 next year! Have a good summer :D

Looks like all bar 3 of us have now signed up for next year - Hogweed, Skiffer and ADK. Just wanted to mention that, with the dropouts already confirmed, Hogweed looks certain to be promoted if he renews, while Skiffer and ADK will avoid relegation. That will all be subject to confirmation by HH once all replies are in of course, but I'm fairly confident that will be the position once the dust has settled.

In case you missed the "sign up for next year" thread, it is here
