Costa needs a Kane transplant otherwise this is done. Quite an unprecedented turnaround. Kicking myself for not paying more attention to match ups and covering Kane who pretty much on his own has lost me the title. But well done to Mr Ferny a great comeback.

Pre Cup Final Week Update

15 point lead for Bill Ferny in the Kane inspired Miracle from medinah style comeback, not sure on match ups for the CF but looks like L7s long stay in the PL could be over and relegation all but confirmed for Hog and Mystery with Spiny praying for Chelsea to save him.

Just bigbaddod? With 2 isnt it?

So he will overtake me/ hold off spiny by using them.

I have holding and ozil plus 11 points against courtois for spiny.
Unlikely turnaroud but you never know.

Happyhoppy needs 16 points from costa and monreal to win.

Its never over until its over is it?

The biggest bit of luck other than HH switching out Kane for Costa, is the long term Danny Rose injury & not having to waste a sub on Ben Davies.

In all honesty though I've been considering retirement from the game.
For players who actually go to matches & refuse to buy a fancy phone, the flanging has killed it for me.
I'd love to see a return to the first game deadline but can't see it happening now...

I have to agree with those final comments. TFF as a whole has been much less fun this year. I don't know how much of that is from spreading myself over too many things but I'm dealing with that. Seems this year that a lack of faith in Spurs over a very small number of games has cost me here but I think those results have been sufficiently freaky that it's not something i'll lose any sleep over. Stuff happens and the luck of the draw has gone against me in the way its worked for me before. Meh....

What I find difficult to keep up with isn't so much the multiple kick off times on any given day it's the amount of days of the week that you have be alert for. I sometimes find myself realising that a match has kicked off on a Friday, Monday or some other day and that I could/should have made some transfers in but I was busy doing "normal" stuff.

Over a long season though multiple flanges aren't really that critical are they compared to a short WC game. And sometimes it can work in your favour like with Jesus when he got injured after 8 minutes or whatever it was. I don't think it's such a big deal as people make out. Especially with smart phones. Clearly if you're a multi entrant then this becomes more difficult but if you are a one team man then it really shouldn't be a problem.

I would agree with this (re flanges) if they didn't keep increasing the number of transfers, thereby encouraging gross tinkerage. I'm sure the flangeability of the game led to our all trying to be clever and burning too many transfers too early. The key will always be recognising the inflection points - this season that boiled down to working out when Kane might score a hat trick, recognising that Aguero was of variable value in Pep's structure, spotting that the Spurs defence was tighter than a gnat's cleft, etc etc. And as always, it just seems so easy in retrospect :?

Flanges would be good if you could set everything up in advance to go through at a certain time. ie on friday night set a sale of someone playing saturday 1245 to go through at 3pm for someone playing then (subject to you not cancelling it on hearing team news or whatever).

I think that worked well in TFFO, but that was a squad game and usually what we were doing was just moving players off and on the bench at their appointed time. Of course the nostalgia is a bit rose-tinted, as working out how not to have all your team playing at the same time was a right old business. Flanges with an eleven player game are pretty labour intensive too, especially with 40 transfers to waste.

Congratulations to Bill Ferny in winning the Premier League title for the first time (he says through gritted teeth  ).

Commiserations to our relegatees, long standing (possibly PL ever present Lucky7s whose luck finally run out), Hog, Mystery (meaning I have to be chairman again next season) and Spiny (who becomes the first (and maybe last) play off casualty). A real topsy turvy season , I never would have thought Mystery and Spiny would have gone down after their mid season rises.

Hope you enjoyed the season, in case you missed it I'm handing over the reigns to Mystery going forwards.

Thanks for the congrats. :o

More than a tad lucky - I was more concerned with relegation with a month to go with few subs in the Bank, so commiserations those going down.

Thanks again to Paul for organising - Love the format & hope to see everyone next season.

Will try to be a bit more active in the banter next season...

Thanks for all the updates/admin etc. and congratulations to Bill !
If memory serves I believe I escaped relegation on the final day last season, this time I've finally been relegated.
It's not sour grapes (honest  ), but with all the changes the game doesn't seem to be as enjoyable as it used to be (for me anyway) but no doubt I'll give it another go next season.

Thanks again HH, and congrats BillF.

For me it's relegation after just one year in the PL, so will be trying to get back up again next year.

And yes, agree with Lucky's comment that some of the fun has been taken away by the changes made over the last few years.

Belated thanks HH for keeping this contest a great one. I somehow didn't feel we were top-notch this season, though like the children of Lake Wobegon, we were all above average. My Bournemouth block in the FISO Block League did better than this team. I also somehow feel that better players than me are going down....not that I'm volunteering to take their place!
