New Forum Features

Post by admin »

A few new features have been added to the forum:

1. Chat Room at app.php/mchat

We used to have a chat room (mainly used on match days) but not for a while. This new chat room is called mChat and is specifically for phpbb forums like ours.

2. Collapsible Forums.

You can now minimise the various forums on the forum index page (see minimising icon top right of each forum category). Your settings will be remembered next time you log on.

3. Precise Similar Topics.

Within the Fantasy Football forums if there are similar topics in the Fantasy Football forums these will be shown at the end of the topic so you can see if other members are discussing the same subject/player.

Any issues or bugs with the changes just let us know.

It's not displaying correctly when loading pages on mobile, I'm having to zoom out to get the full view every time. Just noticed it's not formatting things correctly on mobile, like usernames on posts.

We're looking at the page sizing issue for mobile users.

Have tweaked the code - refreshing the page on mobile should hopefully improve things, thanks for your patience :)

I'm sure you're on top of it but the CSS isn't looking right at the moment, fonts and particularly font sizes are a bit ugly at the moment, the padding is off too on several elements (such as the quote block in posts) and hover styles on the post button are causing things to reflow slightly too (this is Chrome on a full width view, not a mobile device).

In Full View, everything is smaller. That's a fact.
Makes it harder for those without eagle eyes, or forces continuous zoom in zoom out.

I'm not complaining:
If you make things less comfortable for me to interact with, I'll simply use Fiso less from mobile, no problem.

Maybe it's because you enabled text wrap on usernames, but disabled it on thread titles, which now have to be displayed in their full length on a single line? :?

Very funny anyway the usernames wrapping around the avatars :D nice and entertaining

Oh, and the attachments feature is broken as usual: I have attached 3 screenshots here, it only displays the first

Thanks for the specific example, Romyn, can you Ctrl-F5 and confirm whether you are seeing a change please?

I'm getting same wrapping issue captioned by MoSe, sizing resolved now though. ..... now being more consistent though your one is still a mess Rob. We might have to think of a different solution for an online marker

Now username wrapping resolved,
the action buttons (edit, delete, report, quote) still overlap the post title tho

Almost everywhere, tbh.

It seems like link\Action buttons are Zingy red\Orange if text, or outlined for Bold, Ittallics etc which have a pic\icon

indeed re-enabling wrap on topic titles, brought back topics list to normal in forum view :D

Thanks

I can live with post EDIT buttons overlapping, no prob ;)

I think that's just the new theme/skin for the same things we had before, I'm afraid we'll just have to learn to adapt and cope with that

I'm already beginning to not hate it ;)

Seems a bit better already. The Font sizes being off made it ugly and I think they are still too small myself.

Tablet view is strange. Quotes seem to be merging in to comments, spacing looks off and names of users browsing appears in a much larger font.

Think I'll get used to the red.

Only constructive though ☺ i know a lot of hard work goes into making the forum a better place.

Avatars seem smaller and the font in the drop down menu is also too small.

Not keen on the similar topics idea:

On mobile go to thread, flick finger a few times to get to the bottom post to then get 5 useless threads and have to flick up again to get to the last post.

Haven't looked at many threads but first one was tff chit chat and the 5 similar threads started with 2017 november chit chat.
