Assassin query

If I'm playing an assassin game on AoR2, what happens if I can complete the objective of "breaking the spell & holding the sanctuary"? Does that I mean win by default, or is the assassination the only part that counts?

Would make it a lot easier, it's fog trench with adjacent reinforcements

All irrelevant in the end, some pillock decided not to bother with 2 successive turns, which meant he was wiped out and the game won by someone else. I had taken the sanctuary but was waiting for the start of my next turn to hold it and claim the win. I'd tried to chip away at the other guy to prevent him closing in on his kill but couldn't do anymore (well, I could have done as it turns out, but with fog on I didn't know if I would just be helping the other guy win).

Really frustrating!
