Despite knowing it's a laugh and doesn't really matter, it's a bloody joke when you get the Balkans voting for each other regardless of the quality of the songs.

They either have west and east semis to knock down the blocks, or everyone should be allowed in the final at least every three years, with the semi filling up the remaining slots. The Dutch haven't been in the final for years, can't be right.

Maybe next year our Comp should be to get the least votes?

I can see a lot of people saying we should pull out, the fact it's the Hump will upset a lot of folk. Can't help but think this is really Cameron's fault for the Euro issue.

The Swedish caller sounds like she's from Southend!!!

Countries with few land borders would be good pick.

Next year the comp should have a deadline before the semis maybe. A wider choice and less influence from the semi results.

Not sure the semis make any difference. Ukraine are shockingly low, as there must be loads of them everywhere.

I nearly picked Serbia over Bosnia due to them having moved everywhere...

I think we'd have to look back to make sure it isn't too predictable historically, but a 'lowest' comp for next year might well be more enjoyable.

Well Englebert, there goes my everything. Perhaps it would have been different in another time. another place. Tell me where it hurts, this moment in time. I believe in miracles but this is the last waltz.

Well done Mo, always nice to see a risk pay off. Now, if only I'd gone with Norway, I'd have totally nailed it. Is that the lowest FISO score ever?

Just for arguments sake, I worked this out. If you say that you should only do this from 2006 as the semis started in 2004:

2006:
Third Year Qualification - Andorra, Belarus, Estonia, Monaco, Portugal, Slovenia
Possible Non Qualifiers (in descending order of semi result) - Macedonia, Ireland, Turkey, Ukraine, Armenia, Lithuania

2007:
TYQ - Belgium, Iceland, Netherlands, Poland
PNQ - Moldova, Macedonia, Georgia, Slovenia

2008:
TYQ - Cyprus / *Macedonia, *Slovenia
PNQ (Jury selection excepted) - Albania, Iceland, Bosnia&H

2009:
TYQ - Andorra, Czech Rep, Montenegro, Switzerland
PNQ (Jse) - Lithuania, Romania, Denmark, Portugal

2010:
TYQ - Bulgaria, Macedonia, Netherlands, Slovenia
PNQ - Moldova, Bosnia&H, Belarus, Ireland

2011:
TYQ - Latvia, Slovakia / *Belarus
PNQ - Moldova, Switzerland, Estonia

2012:
TYQ - Croatia / *Switzerland
PNQ - Norway, Hungary

* Would have theorically qualified for that year under TYQ.

Eurovision 2012

@ mowatson: many congratulations on an excellent strategy. Didn't watch semi-finals or listen to any of the acts here: instead, just compared country factor and betting odds to decide on foursome.

@ primitive man: fourth? Forget it! No one will even remember who came second (sadly)...

@ Shaggy365: thanks for organising. Wonder if country factor and overall limit could be reduced from three to two digits next time to make selecting and checking easier all round?

Thanks Sam.

Believe me there was little in the way of homework and I didn't see/hear any of the finalists before submitting my team. When i said a couple of days ago that the Semi was a factor I meant that Shaggy put his nation ratings based on either Semi results or betting markets. Sweden was a clear favourite on both counts so it made sense to me to lump on. (As I did in financial terms as well :D )

As for no one remembering fourth, I doubt that many will remember first either....that's why it's proudly displayed in my fantasy achievements.
