RULES

To be run over 6 months October to March. The final race to be The Grand National on 8th April.

Each calendar month (1st to 31st or 28th, 30th incl.) players will have 5 bets. (so if you're away etc it'll not penalize you).

Bets can be 10 win or 5 each way, your total will include stake money returned.

You can select from any NH or flat race in any country that I can see prices (on ante-post bets) or SPs (for selections made on race day). Let's be sensible people, no Brazilian or Venezuelan please.

Bets made on race day will be payed at SP. Except, when ante-post is chosen. All ante-post bets must be prices with a major bookie, not that bloke in the Fiso bar, or Betfair. All ante-post withdrawals will be a lost bet.

Bets must be made 20 minutes before the off. Okay new ruling on 20 min before the off:
Bets will be accepted only if another post is made to "lock-in" the first post. Obviously no edit allowed or bet is a loser (not void). The lock in must be made immediately following the selection post.

Non-runners on the day (not ante-post), bet will be void and another must be selected.

In addition to the 30 bets. there will be 7 Special Race Bets. These will be 20 win or 10 each way.
The 7 races are: Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup 28/11/05, King George 26/12/05, Champion Hurdle 14/03/06, Champion Chase 15/03/06, Ladbrokes World Hurdle 16/03/06, Gold Cup 17/03/06, Grand National 08/04/06.

Ante-post obviously accepted for these 7.

Anyone may enter up to October 31st (need to make 5 bets that day though). From November any new people will be fined 10 and start -10.

I'll keep a running total at the top of a new topic for each month. Please comment and I'll either ignore or embrace your ideas.

Spence, as ive found the FISO games sections I thought I may enter one, have read the rules and it appears to be still ok if I enter, is there a prize or is it just the pride of being FISO champion??

Either way count me in (if thats ok?)

Absolutely fine Bunners, there may well be a prize. I wanted one previously, so now I'm running it, I ought to put one up.

As you can see, so far we've had not the sniff of a winner, so you're probably in with as good a chance as any, and a better one than most. :?

No. I can't go checking all these types of bet, (this is an ante-post bet) as I'm sure you understand. It'll run, but I will give you 1/4 odds, 5 places for this race even though most bookies are only offering 4. Hope that makes up for it.

28-1 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 ( Non Runner loses) is fine by me.

Just clarifying the rules you understand

Same question was raised on the other Forum. My answer:

"Yeah, i know, but there are races such as the Arc and Breeders Cup Meeting so it seemed fair to include all. We did this last year. Afterall, if you think it's easier picking flat winners through the winter on the AW at Wolverhampton and Southall then good luck to you."

Hate to say in JaseC but that is not an ante-post bet so you'll have to take the SP.

(It's actually 25/1 with sporting odds)

Surely if there's a price available anti-post (before they come to the post) then it is an anti-post bet?

They way I read it, and please feel free to argue the case, if you place a bet on any day before a race (known as ante-post) and consequently that horse is withdrawn, you lose your money.

If it's withdrawn on the day of the race, and if you've only placed the bet on that day, then you get your money back.

Equally, if a 2/1 favourite is withdrawn 1 hour before a race their are deductions to your winnings if you've bet on that race on that day. But if you bet on that race 3 days before, you've got lucky because your ante-post bet stands at the odds you took.

As the rules state, if a selection is made on the day of the race then you'll be on at SP. Any day before, then you can have odds if they can be confirmed.

This is the definition of Ante-post given on Paddy Power:

Ante Post
Betting prior to the day of the race or event and in some cases many months or even years in advance. The odds are likely to be better at this early stage, but be warned: you will lose your stake if your selection does not take part. Exceptions to this (where your stake is returned) are; *Your selection is balloted out of a race and the bet is void *Your selection is withdrawn but the race is abandoned *You bet 'with a run' which returns your money in the event of a withdrawal

I had the same rule last year.

On the day of a race, lots of bookmakers offer early odds. If you accept people taking a price on the day, it is a devil of a job trying to keep track of it all, as prices move very quickly. Unless you're sat in front of a pc all day it can't be done fairly. That's why I only accepted SPs on the day, and I think that's probably the reason Spencer4 is doing it as well.

Anti-Post bets are much easier to verify. Some bookmakers also offer `with a run' prices on the days before a race. That was the rule I was questioning yesterday.

It's always best to keep things as simple as possible.

Keep up the good work Spencer4, and thanks again for picking up the mantel :D
