Bor-exit Sweepstake

Post by forestfan »

So, Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson moves into 10 Downing Street tomorrow.

Predict the date he will officially leave the post of Prime Minister...

A few potential hurdles and milestones to consider:
3rd September 2019 - Parliament returns from summer recess
31st October 2019 - Current Brexit date
21st November 2019 - Overtakes George Canning, shortest serving PM to form a government
5th May 2022 - Latest possible date for next General Election
6th August 2022 - Overtakes Theresa May's length of service
19th February 2031 - Overtakes Margaret Thatcher's length of service
3rd June 2040 - Overtakes Robert Walpole's length of service, statues unveiled on the Garden Bridge and the departure lounge of Boris Island Airport...

How many of these will he cross off? Add your name and unique prediction to the list!

So you would be using tomorrow for May, rather than when she started this latest chapter of national shame ie triggered the Tory vote?

As Conservative Party leader (but still remained even in that role until a successor was elected).

It was about 2 weeks and then 4? I've worked off April Fools Day which just pipped Nov 5th 😂 for when he is ousted...

It could even be a GE the week before which leaves a hung thingy where any Coalition rejects him.....

Well, we didn’t really get much of a contest going, but to update regarding my initial milestones:

3rd September 2019 - Parliament returns from summer recess Achieved - though there was a further unscheduled recess...
31st October 2019 - Current Brexit date Achieved, though Brexit didn’t officially happen until 31st Jan 2020.
21st November 2019 - Overtakes George Canning, shortest serving PM to form a government Well, he did that, but came pretty close to meeting a similar fate a few months later.
5th May 2022 - Latest possible date for next General Election He negotiated one of those ahead of schedule. Next one on or before 2nd May 2024, so looks a long shot.
6th August 2022 - Overtakes Theresa May's length of service Odds probably against, right now.
19th February 2031 - Overtakes Margaret Thatcher's length of service Needs snookers.
3rd June 2040 - Overtakes Robert Walpole's length of service, statues unveiled on the Garden Bridge and the departure lounge of Boris Island Airport... Well, the airport might be a non-starter for the time being, at least ;)

Well, he’s beaten May (and Brown and Callaghan) in the ranks of the three-years-ish PMs who didn’t last a full parliamentary term one way or another. Still odds against his successor outlasting him though, and he might well be in line to return further down the line…
