Do you support a team in the swamp of mediocrity located just south of the Premier League? Or just fancy a bit more of a challenge than predicting the top flight? Well, here's your opportunity...

Just list the 24 clubs in the order you think they will finish, each on a new line, using the names/abbreviations as per my list below. Entrants are ranked by lowest aggregate number of places out, across the 24 teams.

Entries close at first Championship kick-off of the season.

It is tricky, I've got about 10 play-off teams and nobody I really like the look of for top two. Everyone has a minus point against them, whether it be rookie manager or squad turnover... which probably suggests it will be a rank outsider that takes it.

Are you talking about my placings for Forest or Huddersfield?

A few weeks ago I was thinking of tipping Huddersfield to fall straight through, but previews have talked them up a bit more than I expected. If they still had Wagner I'd back them to do OK but the new guy has proved nothing in England...

More the Forest prediction but we definitely won’t finish that low.

Doubt there’ll be many better defences in the league, we have the best midfielder in the competition in Mooy and Karlan Grant will score plenty in the Championship.
Be amazed if we don’t finish top 8.

We really could be anywhere between 1st and 24th, so I could have been even more wildly optimistic... no idea really what to expect from the new manager (and perhaps the one after that) but no point joining the doomsters and gloomsters

I was looking at how teams that went down with less than 20 points fared the next season, one won the title (Sunderland), another made the play-offs (Sunderland again!) while the other two, in more recent times, struggled (Derby and Villa). So no clear pattern, but always feel it’s hard to turn around a culture of losing nearly every week, whatever level you’re at.

First game of the season last year was Reading v Derby. Reading were top of the league for a full 8 minutes but finished the night bottom...

I love the bottom six on our consensus table.
QPR, Barnsley,Wigan, Millwall and Charlton all won. Luton only managed a draw.

Mooy loaned out and nobody brought in.

Played him throughout preseason when the club knew he wanted to leave. We’ve now lost our best player, with no immediate fee and no replacement. Bizarre.

Pretty sure your prediction will be closer than mine now.

after 4 games each consensus has 19th to 22nd exactly correct ! QPR. Barnsley. Wigan. Luton. Three of the top 6, Leeds, Fulham. WBA.
Wildly afrift, 24th Charlton currently 5th. Disaster looming for Huddersfield, forecast 8th now 23rd, Stoke forecast 6th now 24th. ?

a break in activity after almost a quarter of the season and the prediction table makes its first report. The figures represent plus or minus the positions we forecast.

Nearest is HULL CITY. +1 (currently 16th) Biggest improvement CHARLTON +14, (currently 10th) PRESTON +12 (currently 3rd) QPR +10 (currently +9th)
FOREST +8 (currently 2nd) MILLWALL +8 (currently 15th)
Biggest falls to the consensus. STOKE CITY -18 (currently 24th) HUDDERSFIELD -13 (currently 21st) MIDDLESBROUGH -13 (currently) 20th)

Consensus leaders FULHAM are 7th. DERBY forecast 5th are currently 16th. SWANSEA forecast 11th are 4th. CARDIFF forecast 4th are 11th.

Next report mid November.

after just about a third of the season the outstanding performer is PRESTON NE in second spot, consensus 15th. CHARLTON are 10th (24th) QPR are 9th (19th)
Currently in the top 6 are SWANSEA 11th, FOREST 10th and BRISTOL CITY 9th. FULHAM number one in the consensus are currently 8th. CARDIFF 4th in consensus are 14th.
In the basement are STOKE (8th) holding everyone up and MIDDLESBROUGH (7th) now in 22nd spot. The 2 teams closest to forecast are READING now 18th (`19th) and BRENTFORD (13th) consensus 12th. Next report at the end of month 5.

now on 13 January, 2 weeks after month 5 all have played 27 except READING and FOREST 26 each. Consensus has BRENTFORD 12th (currently 3rd) DERBY 5th (17) STOKE 6th (21) HUDDERSFIELD 8th (20) READING 18th now 14th. CHARLTON bottom now 19th. MIDDLESBROUGH 7th (16th) SHEFFIELD W 11th (6th) FOREST 10th now 5th.
