VAR you kidding?! Another penalty?

Post by Zimmerman »

Nice and simple... how many penalties will we see next season across all the Premier league?

Tie-breaker: how many by the end of August.

For a line in the sand

18/19 103
17/18 80
16/17 106
15/16 91
14/15 83

Ave. 93 per season I’ve the last 5 years.

I love VAR , why has it taken so long.. don't get folk who complain about it. Surely making the game fairer at the expense of a bit of time it takes to sort a decision is well worth it. Get sick of the officials decisions ruining games but that's just me

I’m in the same camp, it will rule some dives out and it will award some tugs.

If implemented like the Champions league it will be pretty unoticable. If it’s like the farce that we saw in the FA cup a couple of seasons ago, or the women’s World Cup... it will be a farce.

I don’t mind it. Just not keen on taking 3 minutes to determine a toe was offside. If it’s that hard to determine... then it’s not exactly an advantage is it.

The dinosaurs will grumble... but if it removes silly or obvious mistakes/injustices then I’m all for it. Everybody needs to get behind it as it’s what we’ve got. No doubt Shearer and Big Sam will tell us how it was so much better with real men and ‘football men’ as managers.

I’m naively optimistic it will be a good thing.

98.
I think the WWC saw a lot of VAR referrals because it was the first time many of the officials had used it. I dont think we will really notice it in the PL

The handballs are going to be the reason for a significant increase IMO...
