BBC reports
BREAKING

Crystal Palace manager Frank de Boer sacked
So, as if by magic, the team that was accidentally omitted from the original list is the first to lose their manager.

I guess that means the winner is

Frank De Boer / Crystal Palace - hancockjr

(Fortunately there are no prizes otherwise this could be seen as quite controversial)

As this competition is a season-long one I will keep track of all other sackings as we go along

Roy Hodgson apparently.

Jamie Carragher has just begged him to take Gary Neville as his assistant on Twitter.

What has Carra got against Palace???

I saw some of the Palace game yesterday and they certainly played with spirit and kept trying. Bit lacking in creativity (with Zaha out) but they were a good unit who 'played for their manager'. Bar a single one-player error they would have got a creditable(ish) away draw - Sky raved about the opposition defenders and gave one of them MotM.

Massive over-reaction.

It's not in the rules but you kind of stick with the same team for the whole season. Also last year GregsEggs had Swansea and they had two managers sacked during the course of the season so who knows!

Has to be one of the most dramatic falls we’ve seen from a manager, that... the players seemingly stopped playing for him after the Everton situation.

I think it’s a pretty safe bet that they won’t follow the current trend of appointing an old school British manager...

Oddly Hull we're very similar under Silva - blinding start then nothing for the rest of the season.

Hull was an exercise in turd-polishing though, the squad was nowhere near good enough to stay up. Watford seemed to have recruited well and looked a decent bet for top eight the way they started.

It does all seem to be about instant impact with managers these days though. It’s so short term that the main reason for making a change is those next six games or so, teams sometimes time it to coincide with an easier run of matches coming up, and if a manager fails to hit the ground running the appointment is questioned straight away.

Anyway, “Watford not expected to name their new head coach today”.

Maybe when they do so, they could save themselves some time and name the one after that as well?

Phelan was a Sacking waiting to happen though (he was the last Hull manager?)

Watford must have more points in the first (calender) year of a season compared to the Jan to May bit as they always start well then fade - cue Katie Perry gags

I'd guess there are some unhappy Toffee Board and fan bods having SAM.....

Phelan was a glorified caretaker, who got the job on the strength of a couple of “everyone’s written us off, let’s show them” early season wins. They were relegated the moment Steve Bruce walked out after the owners failed to invest and left them with a threadbare squad. And there were further sales mid-season after Silva had arrived.

Yeah, he knew he wasn’t being given a realistic chance to keep them up, although (despite being a much maligned manager) he has a pretty good record at keeping mediocre teams in the top flight.

Going back to Silva, he did well to make them as competitive as he did, but the jury’s out on whether it was much more than the typical new manager bounce. He did come across well in interviews etc. which clearly helps, as opposed to some foreign managers who just look out of their depth in the Premier League.
