Christmas Sporcle Challenge 2014

Post by Digsby »

Ladies & Gentlemen, welcome to the 2014 Christmas Sporcle Challenge

Rules are the same as last year.

Every day up to and including christmas eve I'm going to post a different quiz on here.

The rules are simple:

Click on the link and immediately click on 'Ready? Click to Start' (no thinking / googling time)

As soon as your time is up post your score on here

This game will only work if people are honest so please post honestly

Top scorer for the day will score 10 points, 2nd place 9 etc

Anyone who beats my score for the day will receive a bonus point

The winner will be whoever is top dog at christmas

Previous Years:

2013:
1st nathan247
2nd Moist von Lipwig
3rd Striker

2012:
1st nathan247
2nd Moist von Lipwig
3rd GregsEggs

2011:
1st leeloo
2nd nathan247
3rd Moist von Lipwig

2010:
1st nathan247
2nd blahblah
3rd Jester

The final results are in from the closest ever Christmas Sporcle Challenge.

Final Table:

Image

So, in time honored tradition, whenever there's a draw, there needs to be a count back system. So, with that in mind, due to a superior number of 'day wins' our 2014 champion is......

.....Ashers

Congratulations to him and to fellow podium sitters....

.....in 2nd place the very unfortunate Mo Bot

and in 3rd.....

.....our long time leader leeloo

Thanks all for playing and hopefully I'll be able to find the time to run this again next year!

1 - Ashers
2 - Mo Bot
3 - leeloo

Day 2 My Score = 33. The subject: Band Aid artists. Until i started it I didn't even know they'd made a 2014 version so, no surprises, most of my correct answers were from the original line up. Knulpuk was top dog today with a massive 55.

Day 3 My Score = 51. The subject: Biscuits. 50 most & least popular. Not sure who was asked but seriously, dark chocolate digestive top biscuit - do me a favour! Moist von Lipwig clearly eats too many biscuits and top scored, while a poor score from leeloo allowed sportsmeister to climb to top spot. Any one of the top 6 could be in the lead tomorrow.

Day 4 My Score = 24. The subject: Star Wars characters. I thought 24 was going to be hard to beat and so it proved. Only leeloo & Maldini proved more geeky than me and were the only 2 to score bonus points. As a result leeloo goes 6 points clear at the top. 4 are tied for 2nd place, with another 2 only 1 point further back.

Day 5 My Score = 15. The subject: Boxing weights. The problem was that this was the wba classification which was not specified in the subject title. There was one on the website that did specify but you had to type in the word 'weight' on every one which I thought was a pain in the arse. Anyway, I knew the fiso pedants wouldn't mind.

Day 6 My Score = 16. The subject: Currencies replaced by the euro. Lots of standard 'lira', 'mark' guesses etc gave you a few easy points but it was all about trying to get the more obscure eastern block ones. Turns out nathan247 could name 1 more than anyone else.

Day 7 My Score = 27. The subject: English counties. Clearly a bit controversial due to some being outdated. Everyone apart from 2 people managed at least a bonus point due to my piss poor score of 27. X-Man was top dog with 42.

Day 8 My Best Score = 99. The subject: Annoying numbers! Fair play to Ashers & Mystery for getting the whole lot - God knows how!

Day 9 My Score = 44. The subject: World Cup 2014 scorers. Not as easy as you first may have thought. I figured my score of 44 would have been well below par on a fantasy sports forum but it turned out to be not too bad. Mo Bot scored an impressive 73.

And so on to the final day and there are still 4 possible winners, although Moist would need a hell of a lot to go his way to be champ. Entries today close at midnight and I will attempt to do the final table then as I might be busy tomorrow. :D

Day 10 My Score = 36. The subject: Race courses of UK & Ireland.

Good luck!!!

19.First 5 minutes thought it was X factor without reading the question the way the talk went above so got one by a surname via a different person. They look familiar after you see them so I guess you only remember what you deem necessary to remember unless you have a photographic memory.
