Spiders. What are they up to?

Took this pic in total darkness, with my camera phone, two nights ago on my back porch.
It's a female spider carrying all her young on her back.
Spiders are some of nature's most beautiful manifestations. Incredible creatures.

Yes - and apparently it is nothing to do with it being cold or wet outside, they are just looking for a lady/gentleman to get jiggy with so they can breed the next batch of scary little boogers. Rest of the year they just laze around eating things and growing big...

That's bugging me now. Who was it. Was a right tit. Used to keep having run ins with El Pappje, who went off on some vigilante effort to hunt him down like a dog (OK might have over-egged that last bit, but he did have some run in's with the humorous one)

I do remember somebody who was quite local being a bit of a dick.... in fact, wasn't it somebody whose name was very similar to this thread title?

This lady came for a visit this morning in our garden. It's a Wolf Spider and of the same kind I posted pic of with offspring on her back in the previous page.

Did some work for a business that made bullet proof vests from kevlar a while back. Apparently the holy grail is using spider silk instead of kevlar threads. Incredibly strong stuff. At the time they were trying to replicate it synthetically but couldn't quite get it right, and farmed silk couldn't produce the volume. May have moved on now.

IIRC it was a couple of Israeli firms that were at the forefront of development (as is quite often the case in tech industries these days)

You're right... I tried putting the link in the url code this time but it still didn't work. Then I noticed that where the is a /what/ in the link it should be what and every time I try to post the link correctly it what gets changed to what.

Yeah, that gets you to the picture but the comments on reddit are often more entertaining. You can click on my link above and when it comes up as an error change /what/ to /W T F/ in the url box (no spaces between W T F). I think I know what the problem is now... there must be an auto change of W T F on FISO.

No it's actual size. They seem quite happy to have that spider hunting stuff. I think the metal thing comes with handcuffs but not sure

I found this 'little' guy on my kitchen dresser (just above the bananas...). Two questions: 1) does anyone know what type of spider it is and 2) should I burn my house to the ground just in case? It's a little bigger than an index finger thumbnail if that helps.

Just read the article and they thought they might have been baby Brazilian Wandering Spiders. They look quite cute in the Telegraph article so thought I'd Google them to see what they grow up to become...

Play safe and burn your house and those of your neighbours to the ground. Make sure every plant and tree in the gardens get burnt to. Best to burn any cars you may have in case spiders make a break for it.

There are 2 things you cannot afford to take lightly and they are spiders and wasps.
