Shameless copy of the golf twitter thread, but who's good to follow on twitter?
Lance Armstrong posts some interesting stuff
Brad Wiggins is good for some entertainment
Rob Brydon makes me chuckle
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - interesting following his story at the moment
Of those, I'd say Brad Wiggins is the best vfm.
Anyone follow anyone amusing / good value?

swanny might be a good shout during tours.
Resisted the Fry tweets so far, on the grounds that everyone adds him, but I suppose I should see what the fuss is about.

I would say a shortened version of facebook and most of it is pretty mundane. The bit I do find it interesting with some of the sportsmen who travel the world, Poulter is good for posting pictures of the sights he sees.

twitter is proving invaluable for fans of smaller football clubs, where getting latest scores and match updates has suddenly become incredibly easy!

Re: Twitter
I don't get it? Who cares what they think??? Even a famous bloke talking about FF is incredibly dull:
Andy Murray on Twitter: "What's up. In player lounge. been looking at my fantasy football team 4 30mins. No changes yet tho. Slept 11 hours last night. Feel good."
(Taken from BBC tennis commentary in case you were thinking I had ventured onto twitter. If I'd done that I'm sure I would have mentioned it on my blog (joke) )

Re: Twitter
I use it to follow some cyclists. you get some interesting stuff (like Mick Rogers VO2Max results) plus find out who's riding where and how they're feeling. You do get some crap as well though
Main reason for using it though is to keep up with what the cycling club are doing. Not really what it's intended for tbh but can be handy for stuff that you don't want to clog up the club website with.

Re: Twitter
I don't see the point of Twitter.
I went to a "networking" event the other week where some guy spoke with great enthusiasm about the business opportunities on Twitter, Twit ye not, Twit again, T-wit-t-woo and so on. There was loads of these sodding sites - the list was endless .
He said it was great for "following" potential clients, checking their tweets or getting them to follow you and showed us pictures of two "Master Tweeters", who are willing to give up their time and point you in the right direction.
And then at the end someone asked a question like "Well, if you look at someone's website and want to enter into a conversation with them, surely you just pick up the phone "
Said it all for me.
In two years time Twitter will only be used by techno-dweebs with no social interaction.

Poulter wins Barclays Singapore Open
01 Nov 2009
Ian Poulter carded a closing 72, one over par, to edge out China's Liang Wen-chong by one shot and complete a nervous wire-to-wire victory in the Barclays Singapore Open.

Re: Twitter
I like twitter. Some mates I haven't seen in ages realise now that I still talk as much nonsense as I used to. Sure saved them the effort of needing a whole conversation to come to the same conclusion.
What that says for the 100 or so people who follow me and don't know me.....well.... I'm not so sure. Maybe they enjoy the music recommendations.

I only tend to watch the majors, which is where I'm coming from.
Apart from poking fun at Poulter, I was also trying to highlight what a daft idea Twitter is.

I'm not a twitterer/tweeter but I'd expect it to go the way of Facebook rather than 2nd Life.

Re: Twitter
I can't fathom why anyone would want to be on Twitter, it seems like the most pointless website known to humanity. How bored would you have to be to want to read about every tedious mundanity of people's lives?
It seems designed to appeal to the sort of people that post Facebook status updates every hour along the lines of:
Mike is having a nice cup of tea
Mike really doesn't want to go to work
Mike hopes he wins the lottery this weekend!
Mike is going to the gym, then might ring Dave
Mike is watching True Blood
Mike is going to the shops
And so on....

So it's been designed for 10's of millions of people then...no surprise it's popular.mike_d99 wrote:It seems designed to appeal to the sort of people that post Facebook status updates every hour
Never been on it myself but it's obvious why many are attracted to it. The world has changed but the world is still nosey and likes a gossip, this is their little insight into celebrity.
Sad I know

Re: Twitter
Again, sorry to be Twitters advocate but that summary could apply to most things online. I love multiplayer FPS games and fantasy football forums but there are millions of people for whom that would be incredibly dull.mike_d99 wrote:I can't fathom why anyone would want to be on Twitter, it seems like the most pointless website known to humanity.
