Discussion/Gossip on EPL injuries, doubts, bans,etc. 2012-13

Post by admin »

This thread is a catch-all for all player absence discussion and gossip, including unconfirmed injury reports, injury doubts and chat about suspensions.

If you wish to post an official news item involving a confirmed player absence (injury, ban or other), please do so over in the official 2012-13 News thread. Everything else belongs here.
If you're not sure where to post, do so here. One of the mods can always repost it in the main thread for you if necessary. Accidental reposts of links will not be frowned upon as this is a catch-all thread.

You are of course free to start your own threads on any major topic. This one is here for all the little bits and pieces that may not otherwise have a home.

On the injury front, we're especially interested in nuggets of info in official club web sites or articles by local journos, particularly where details of a player's recovery from injury are buried in an otherwise uninteresting article. These little gems are easy to miss and really do help the injury table admins to get the best guesses for return dates right and help provide a better service to you. Even if you think it might be of limited interest, let's have a look at it.

Walcott went off after half an hour today after being brought on in the 2nd half, is he crocked again or is AW just being ultra cautious, anybody heard anything?

Did jelavic go off with a knock or get a knock in the win over united? Coming up on tff that he is a risk for the weekend.

I can't find any info on this anywhere? Anyone else heard anything?

He went off after treatment, but I didn't see the incident - he was walking if that helps.

And a time-wasting sub\injury was my guess at the time.

Apparently Terry limped off tonight.

Anybody watching with sufficient medical training to give an accurate prognosis?

From BBC:

John Terry then limped off injured with what looked an ankle problem which may make him doubtful to face Ukraine

umm, the extended injury seems almost a case of trying to learn how to manage without him. Wonder if he could make a shock January move.

Just a quick note that the window for the 1 game ban for 5 yellows is now gone so your players are safe from that.

They have until the 'second sunday in April' to get a 2 game ban for reaching 10 yellows.

Idiots guide to the ban rules

PS Looks like Enrique will be out for a bit with his damaged hamstring, no firm details on length of absemce yet but I'll guess at at least 2 weeks. Haven't heard anything about his Mrs having her bay yet (see post above) but this could be good timing....

5 live reported Enrique as torn hamstring, so it could well be a long lay-off

I fail to see the point sticking three of the above names in a so called Friendlyitis bracket regardless if they play this weekend.

Sturridge was obviously carrying an injury .
Sturridge was injured in the first half at the Etihad Stadium but played on until being replaced in the 89th minute. He reported for international duty- so England in their wisdowm agreed he was injured.

Ba had his nose broken but nearly received a decapitation to boot.
The Senegal striker suffered a broken nose in last Saturday's loss at his former club Newcastle- and i for one would certainly not want to play a match a few days later with a broken nose.

Defoe went off injured in their game against WBA and depending on what source of the media one cares to believe could be out for anything between 2-6 weeks.

Meaningless friendlies but certain the above players not shirking anything.

Cech being reported as saying he will miss next week's Europa league tie but will be assessed by Chelsea's medical team tomorrow.

Broken little finger. What do we reckon? I wouldn't risk him against Sparta Prague or Brentford. That would give him a decent healing period until City on the 24th?

I am thinking of giving up posting injury updates on FISO as I seem to be the only one bothering.

Plenty of people gossiping about them in the various game ghettoes (increasingly unchecked by mods over the years) but nobody seems to care about it 'overall' and the Injury Table proved too much to be comprehensively updated.

Its a shame as FISO used to be a good 'one stop shop' but other sources have taken over while we go backwards. Not long ago I would never dreamed that Physioroom could be more reliable than us!!

Good summary of the situation. In the distant past, fiso was always one of the places where I checked for injuries, but wouldn't dream of bothering these days. However I don't think that I'd ever use Physioroom either. FFS is always a good starting point for getting a general picture and for being alerted about both new and recovering injuries before one looks elsewhere for details on the two or three players one is really interested to know about.
