Diego Costa will miss Chelsea's next three matches after a Football Association charge of violent conduct was upheld. Costa's ban covers Chelsea's League Cup match at Walsall on Wednesday along with Premier League matches against Newcastle and Southampton.

Arsenal's appeal against defender Gabriel's red card during Saturday's defeat by Chelsea has been successful. The successful appeal means he will now not serve a three-match suspension.
The Brazilian is subject to a separate Football Association charge of improper conduct to which he has until 18:00 BST on Thursday to respond.That relates to him failing to leave the pitch immediately after being sent off.

Branislav Ivanovic was forced off after 65 minutes in Tirana with a hamstring pull.

Nemanja Matic was also substituted during Serbia's 2-0 victory over Albania in European Qualifying on Thursday night. The midfielder left the pitch with an unidentified muscular problem.

Louis van Gaal faces a nervous wait for news after Bastian Schweinsteiger pulled out of Germany's match against the Republic of Ireland in the warm-up with a thigh injury.

Switzerland midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri limped out of training on Thursday after feeling a tweak in his lower leg.

Argentina ruled Aguero out of next week's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay but did not speculate how long he would be sidelined for.
However, a grade-two tear to the hamstring can require anything from two to eight weeks to recover from and the striker has a history of hamstring problems.
