Blackburn have appointed the prolific Tony Mowbray as head coach, last seen at Coventry, departed with a 34% win rate.

Coventry was probably a no-win situation, but Boro and Celtic didn't exactly go well for him either, anyone with three failures in a row is lucky to get another go.

Mowbray had the perfect preparation at Coventry. It showed:
-he would work for clueless owners
-he could handle mutinous fans
-he is cheap
-he can develop a couple of youngsters for sales

Typical, just in time for El Cloughico... though have to laugh at Wally being sacked from the same team twice within the space of a couple of years, can anyone match that (apart from those reinstated without being replaced)?

I think we should sack our current caretaker Gary Brazil so they have a caretaker and we have a caretaker-caretaker for next week's game...

Any bigger jobs likely to be free?

Can't see Arsenal taking him :D

Can only assume he doesn't fancy his chances of pulling a rabbit out of the hat again.

I'd have backed him to get them in the top half next season given the talent they have.

Maybe he just wanted to prove he still had it and bring the right sort of closure to his managerial career after the England debacle. Although he will be able to name his price to any team struggling mid-season.

It would appear that the owners aren't going to invest in the team, at least not to the degree Sam wants, could point to a long season for whoever is Palace manager.

That's about 6 teams I've earmarked for relegation next season so far

From his statement it does sound like effectively a retirement announcement, though he doesn't actually use that word.

Let's see if he can resist that SOS call from Stoke/Watford/Leicester around Christmas though...

I reckon Brighton, Chris Hughton has a habit of finding the EPL a little out of his depth.
Unless its a sudden health issue, its a huge surprise he is leaving Palace, maybe some gentlemens agreement made last December about team investment in they stay up has been withdrawn.
You only need to watch his Sky interview with Carra & Neville after giving Wenger a tactical masterclass to see he still has enthusiasm for the game.

Well, his career path at least seems to be heading downwards each time. Not sure he will get another managerial job in a hurry.

Time will tell whether he ends up in here or not (but i couldn't see another managers thread);

Frank de Boer in the hot seat at Palace.

Either sacked by October - or named the new Arsenal manager in May?

Why not? You'd shift loads in January when he gets sacked......

They hated SAM, so Moyes has no chance, imho.

I think there is a break in his contract for end of season, which in effect means he is there until May regardless. Hard to see who else they could have got really, and who wants a job where the crowd hate the ground?
