Time for a Bale-out...

Post by forestfan »

So, ZZ doesn’t want him, he’s 29 and with 3 years left on his contract (and astronomical wages). So what are the options?

1) Do a Bogarde - reports suggest he’d be prepared to sit out his contract. Probably wouldn’t play at a high level again though, so a real waste. But could outlast the manager if new signings flop, and get back in the fold?

2) Move to a semi-retirement destination, i.e. China, Middle East or US - again, a waste, ending his top level career so early. But could be the easiest way out for Real financially.

3) Move to a top PL club, or Bayern, PSG, Juve etc - cost could be prohibitive, and given his injury record clubs might not be keen. Could be a loan with Real paying some of his wages if they really want rid?

Will be an interesting one to follow anyway.

I heard £600k pw. Real deserve to be stuck with this for the remaining 3 years....

Not beyond the realms that he goes somewhere on loan and Real pay half his wages.

Even a subsidised wage puts him out of Spurs’ reach.

Realistically City won’t want him.

Chelsea can’t have him (would a good makeweight in the Hazard deal).

can’t see Liverpool or Arsenal stretching either.

So it only leaves United.
They’ve been burnt by Sanchez 500k a week, so would they want an injury susceptible 29yo even if they can get Real to pay half his salary (if it is 600k)

The £600k a WEEK was an estimated Gross figure as his contract specifies Net. And yep it redefines gross

I agree it is Chelsea or MU as a rather expensive makeweight in Pogba or Eden moving, but Spurs wouldn't surprise me if Erik\Kane go there.

The Chavs can't sign anyone. MU as a makeweight in a Pogba transfer might work.

Isn't the best guess an appeal to delay it until Jan?

Also they may be able to argue that if the receive a player and cash, then they are not "buying"?

Could a Bale and Alexis swap leave everyone at least marginally better placed?

Barca old-boy Sanchez probably wouldn’t go down too well in Madrid... even Messi would take time to convince them if he made the switch

Do they hold the registration of players loaned out?

Bale is a Man Utd type player.
Welsh schooling, Soton academy, Spurs, Real, Man U - sounds about right for such a player.

BBC have got an article on Bale and his options. They seem to rule out most potential destinations except.... Wolves

Talk that Man U are in for another Wales winger in Dan James, would they go for both Dan James and Gareth Bale ?

Bring back Robbie Savage former graduate of the class of 92. Presumably they could find a role for him somewhere in the coaching staff.

(I guess he was part of the 92 class... doesn’t really matter, his welshness trumps any other factors).

Just a token Welshman - that seemed to be the only determinant. Can go with Clayton Blackmore if you prefer one with United links as well.

I doubt Toshack's Lpool link would help, nor the Blackmore initiation thing :|

As a Spurs fan I would like to see Bale back, if he is motivated to put in 100% effort, and doesn't mind English golfing weather. Maybe a season loan before move to China. He's not a Poch type player but neither is Sissoko who eventually adapted.

He could really bounce off the fans. And no annoying language to pretend to learn.

Looks like he’s off to China then. Semi-retirement at 30, what a waste.

Deal called off. By Real apparently (rather than Bale coming to his senses). No more details/explanation yet.

There are rumblings of Zizou out.....

I read something about RM wanting cash for him as well, which would be a tricky sell as most:all European Clubs would start the negotiation with wanting cash to take him off their hands 😂

Yeah, a year of golf looks the best bet right now. He will have enough time on his hands to make the Ryder Cup team...
