Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, 1958-2018
https://www.lcfc.com/news/890995/club-s ... ss-release
It is with the deepest regret and a collective broken heart that we confirm our Chairman, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, was among those to have tragically lost their lives on Saturday evening when a helicopter carrying him and four other people crashed outside King Power Stadium. None of the five people on-board survived.
In Khun Vichai, the world has lost a great man. A man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family and those he so successfully led. Leicester City was a family under his leadership. It is as a family that we will grieve his passing and maintain the pursuit of a vision for the Club that is now his legacy.
A book of condolence, which will be shared with the Srivaddhanaprabha family, will be opened at King Power Stadium from 8am on Tuesday 30 October for supporters wishing to pay their respects.
Supporters unable to visit King Power Stadium that wish to leave a message can do so through an online book of condolence, which will be made available via lcfc.com in due course.
Both Tuesday’s First Team fixture against Southampton in the EFL Cup and the Development Squad fixture against Feyenoord in the Premier League International Cup have been postponed.
Everyone at the Club has been truly touched by the remarkable response of the football family, whose thoughtful messages of support and solidarity have been deeply appreciated at this difficult time.
Mr Vichai made his name in his native Thailand as founder and CEO of King Power Duty Free, before entering the English game as owner of Leicester City in 2010. Under his stewardship, the club gained promotion to the Premier League and went on to win the competition in 2016, widely considered one of the greatest triumphs in the history of sport. He is survived by his wife and four children.

RIP Khun Vichai,
the man that made the impossible possible, fully supporting the Leicester side that achieved one of the greatest sporting stories of all time. Regardless of allegiances I think just about everyone was at least partly a Leicester fan that year.
He looked after the fans and put a huge amount into the local community. An owner that really did understand what football is all about - fans, dreams and community, not just corporate boxes and Sky TV.
It's a tragedy, a genuine tragedy.
Thoughts and love go out to all his family and to the whole community of Leicester fans.

Re: Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, 1958-2018
He was the sort of owner that all fans hope for when they spin the wheel of foreign ownership. Connected with the city and fans and did so much for the club aside from the miraculous Premier League title win. Local rivals or not, it was something for all football fans to celebrate.
I suppose the one positive is that his son and deputy Aiyawatt "Top" wasn't on board as well, having been on business back in Thailand last weekend, and will hopefully have the motivation to carry on what his father started. But the club and city won't be the same for quite a while.

So sad to hear this.
he made dreams come true. And he truly understood that an owner of a club is a custodian. Not a leech.

Shocking news. In some ways even more tragic for the other people who lost their lives but are nameless.
