Neymar, Messi & Suarez

Iniesta and Xavi behind.

Has there ever been a more lethal strike force?

Neymar isn't half the player he is for Brazil with Barca and I suspect Suarez won't have the impact he had at Liverpool.

They'll both still have to hanker to little Lionel too.

As for Xavi & Iniesta, they both showed in this World Cup that their best years are behind them.

So in conclusion, yes there will have been.

I think we are discussing lethal 'strike forces'. Not which individuals are better than other individuals.

Neymar, Messi and Suarez haven't even played together yet.

Yorke and Cole were lethal top class strikers that had amazing chemistry. There are not many strike partnerships that succeed. They didn't win a treble for nothing.

Yeah not overly convinced it will work that well. Obviously they will batter alot of teams next season like they always do in their league but it seems a bit OTT - like they are trying to out-galactico Real.

I can imagine different combinations of 2 of the 3 being extremely dangerous. All 3 at the same time it depends if they get in each others way which will take a while to work out

Every "superstar" they sign to play in the front three is in the shadow of Messi, and that will continue to be the case for as long as he's close to his peak and the team is built around him. While the others will contribute significantly less than they would as a big fish in a small pond.

Surely they should be more concerned with replenishing the supply line? Xavi is nearing the end of the road, Iniesta getting on a bit now as well and has always been a bit injury prone, and they've offloaded the supposed successors in Fabregas and Thiago, so what else do they have?

Real Madrid in the late 50's played 5 forwards and they had the likes of :- Puskas, Di Stefano, Gento, Kopa and Rial in the same team at the same time.

We could be looking at 120+ goals a season from these three players.

None of these suggestions so far even come close.

Messi will always be the main man for Barca.

Neymar has had to adapt his game because of this, as have many other great players (Villa, Ibrahimovic, Henry etc etc).

Suarez will be no different and will do well to score 20-25. If Neymar manages to gets 20-25 too then that just leaves Messi needing 70-80 goals for your prediction to be spot on.

That was exactly my point, they need to replace him not sign yet another striker... there won't be more goals available, they will just be shared out more, and there will be an inevitable battle of egos which could deflate the performances of all of them.

Barca's method has generally been based around team ethic with one defining superstar, now they're going for a fantasy football line-up which could cause problems in reality.

The four R's for Brazil were great to watch, jack shit defensively but very easy on the eye the other way

There was a clear order of things though, not all competing for the same role up front - Ronaldo was the main man, Ronaldinho the up and coming youngster, Rivaldo was an attacking midfielder and who's the fourth one, Roberto Carlos? He was a full-back, or winger as the rest of the world calls them...

In terms of Barcelona's recent past, Zlatan didn't really work out for the same sort of reason, and Henry did well for a couple of years but not with the same strike rate as when he led the line at Arsenal. Same goes for David Villa, Spain's record scorer but little more than an expensive support act to Messi - Alexis Sanchez fitted that description as well. Having more of a workhorse like Pedro in the side, or sometimes Fabregas or Iniesta in the front three, has been equally successful for them as pairing world renowned strikers with Messi.

They haven't played together yet, the great forwards in the Real team that won the European cup 5 times on the trot, did play in the same team as each other so their achievements and goalscoring records playing for the same side are a known, the 5 Barca players mentioned are extremely unlikely to match the Real forward players achievements of that 1950's team even taking into consideration the different eras.

Barnes, Beardsley, Houghton and Aldridge.

Then Rush pretty much replaced Aldo (not sure how frequently Rush and Aldo lined up alongside one another).

Dalglish guessing never played alongside any of them except Rush.

Were all of them except Dalglish (by then retired as a player) in that team who beat us (a very good Forest side) 5-0 in '88 or '89, described as one of the most complete performances ever seen?

From wiki. these are Real Madrid career stats for each player
puskas scored 205 goals in 204 games
Di stefano 307 in 396 games
Gento 178 in 606 games
Kopa 30 in 101 games
Rial 60 in 113 games

Pretty impressive if you ask me
