Think Mirror going with it as well, saying Chelsea coming in to try and beat Bayern to the punch.

I made the Rooney point a little bit earlier on the other thread.
I don't see him as a Jose player, but maybe Roman wants him?
As if he can go abroad and learn a foreign language

Apparently you are getting Martinez.
Do you have a (and I hate this phrase) defensive coach?
Felithing to go with Moyes?

I would hope that the 'apparently' is bollocks. Not that I wouldn't get fully behind him if appointed!
Weir and Stubbs are there, and I think Andy Holden was a centre half too. Take yer pick!

Re: Never rains but it pours (reputed Rooney transfer reques
I watched the SAF Auntie tribute thing, and it was said he is favourite.
Whelan was on R5 today, and said he didn't think he would go, as he will go higher - but he can only turn down so many approaches? (If Wigan go down would he want to try and get them back up and "do" Europe?)
Who would you want? (I'll carry Thick Mick, if you can get be a footballing manager.)

He defo needs to work for us for free for a few years, to pay us back for being crap/injured on big wages during his spell here (think we ended up paying off his contract?). I seem to remember he was a Royle signing, but it wasn't to be completed til the summer. Cue Royle leaving and kendall being stuck with him!

I remember him at WHam following Giggs (or some other speed merchant) and looked across at him, and just smiled. then kicked on and out paced him.
I also think Rio wouldn't be the player he was without him.
One of the top CB's I have seen. (Up there with Baresi, Maldini - top defender, and best CB to have played LB, Moore and Beckenthing, imh(umble)o.)

Literally just read the link on Toffeeweb re. Pereira.Bunners wrote:Laudrup for me, could we persuade the Porto manager if not Bilic just hope we don't end up with RdM, Martinez not the end of the world
The Mail:
Porto boss Vitor Pereira as the more likely candidate to succeed Moyes. The 44 year-old is also out of contract this summer and is believed to be interested in following his friend Andre Villas-Boas to the Premier League.
Out of contract? Bill's eyes have just lit up.

If we get Lewandowski / Ronaldo he can go, if he really doesn't want to stay. To either Bayern or PSG though, not Chelsea.

Confirmed everywhere he put in a transfer request two weeks ago. I would be happy to see him go now. Not put in a full season since 2010.

Not that surprising is it? Maybe he's just in need of a new challenge? Supposedly happened a couple of weeks ago so a new Manager may mean a clean(er) slate.

Re: Never rains but it pours (reputed Rooney transfer reques
Very people choose to leave Man United out of choice, especially when they are playing games. Rooney is missing a screw or two.
Can't see him going abroad, Coleen would want to be in UK, maybe London, so she can start designing clothes or sum crap to go on the cat walks. Chelsea it must be.

Re: Never rains but it pours (reputed Rooney transfer reques
He's not turned out to be the player everyone hoped years ago.
Now tries to spray long balls around the bark from midfield or going for the odd audacios chip, with little effect. The times I have seen him play this year he has been very average.
RVP has stolen the limelight - his volley against Villa was World Class. Rooney would have shinned that.
Hernandez is a better goalscorer, Wellbeck has some sublime touches and a temperament 10 times better.
So best for Man U to cash in.

Maintaining the requisite level of fitness is obviously becoming more and more of an issue for him and Rooney is such a physical player that I can't seem him being fully effective when he inevitably begins to put on the pounds.

Yeah they should sell him, with Rvp and hopefully ronaldo coming back he's surplus to requirements. I can't see him going abroad. As blah said he's not going to learn another language is he?

Re: Never rains but it pours (reputed Rooney transfer reques
If Ronaldo does come back then we are safe to sell for sure (abroad). If this is going to be an on-going saga/distraction then we are certainly better off without, and with two years left on his deal it's hard to see it not being just that. We will need everyone pulling in the same direction for Moyes with no dissenters.

I'd love ronaldo back. It'd make picking a fantasy team next season easier.

Interesting times at United, the timing to me, of it all seems strange. Fascinating to see how Moyes and Rooney (assuming it happens) settle this and if Ronaldo does come back, for sure we will see Moyes man management skills tested.
Fan reaction will be another area of interest next season, fair few of United fans have only seen success, will they buck the modern trend and give new manager a honeymoon period, if they have a poor start.

Re: Never rains but it pours (reputed Rooney transfer reques
It depends how poor. Even if Fergie had stayed I would be expecting a response from city next season - I would expect some of their hunger to come back and if Jose ends up at Chelsea and they spend then predicting title winners pre-season will be tough. I don't expect Moyes to win the title in his first season but I would expect us to be competitive.
It wasn't ALL success under Fergie - it is normal to have seasons not winning much/anything but with Fergie there was no such thing as doubt - we felt success was assured even if we had to go through the odd re-building cycle. There will surely be a period of transition now with Moyes and it is a question of the fans managing that new element of doubt in their heads.
But all Managers come under pressure if results are poor. That's the job.

classic rumour chain here, but here goes. A bloke came in to my shop today saying he had heard that Nike sponsor Ronaldo and are upset with him running around in an Addidas Real Madrid shirt and so are prepared to bankroll the move back to England.
Then Rooney to Chelsea, everyone happy
