Telegraph's 2010 Sports Predictor
To be in with a chance of winning, you need to nominate one outcome for each of ten major sporting events taking place next year:
1. Six Nations Championship
2. The Boat Race
3. ICC Twenty20 World Cup
4. The F.A. Cup
5. The Champions League
6. FIFA World Cup
7. Wimbledon: Men's Championship
8. Wimbledon: Women's Championship
9. The Ryder Cup
10. Formula One Drivers' Championship
Tick one box for each and £100,000 could be yours if we get all 10 correct.
It costs £2.50 per entry or you can get three entries for just £5.
Anyone taking part?

Re: Telegraph's 2010 Sports Predictor
The odds on getting them all must be huge.
Only seen the ad in the paper but that doesn't say how you win!
Can there be a tie on 8 out of win and do you just share the pot???

The bookies odds will be much higher whatever the result.
Re. the prize:
'If no contestant correctly predicts all 10 outcomes then the prize shall not be awarded to anyone.'
Logically that also means if an unquoted(FA Cup or Wimbledon) wins one of the 10 then there's no prize awarded.

At average odds of 4-1, the odds for the 10-result accumulator is around 10,000,000 to 1.
Doubt if I'll be giving it a go.

They do have 'other' for things like the FA Cup.

So if they used £1 of everyone's entry fee on an accumulator, and someone did get it right, they would be nearly £10m up?

Yep, only bad ones would have a chance of winning.
Maybe throw in The Open, as an eleventh?

Maximum winnings rule would stop that.Usually 50k to 1m depending on the event so according to B365 as it includes WTA Wimbledon about 50k.Assuming your account isn't restricted due to winning as happens to some people.

Re: Telegraph's 2010 Sports Predictor
Reallistically, no-one will correctly get all 10, so you'd only put 1p on each accumulator at the bookies, paying out the £100,000 prize money, and pocket the other £2.49 per entry.murf wrote:That would be a quality scamblahblah wrote:Shaggy365 wrote:At average odds of 4-1, the odds for the 10-result accumulator is around 10,000,000 to 1.

If we could set it up and charge people £1 instead of £2.50, hack into the Telegraph web-site with a link to our page on the Telegraph entry page, I'm sure would could get 10,000 entries, pocketing us £9,900 profit with no risk. (Allegedly)

If it were to be done, it would be more complicated than that, with not all the punters' £1s used. Again not all would need to be reinvested, as the betting would be insurance, on someone actually winning £100k, the rest of the revenue would be profit.....
Does Magna, Magnus or whatever SAF's mate is called have such probems?

Exactly the idea of getting £10m, per person getting all 10 is ridiculous, as it is practically impossible.Shaggy365 wrote: Reallistically, no-one will correctly get all 10, so you'd only put 1p on each accumulator at the bookies, paying out the £100,000 prize money, and pocket the other £2.49 per entry.

(Getting my 3 year old to fill it in, would be as much use as any "expert" on here )
The idea is to make more than the initial Entry Fees. You could probably get insurance on someone guessing all 10 for £10
