The Aintree Festival, one of racing’s greatest events takes place from April 7 to 9, and you can add to the excitement with the Telegraph's FREE TO PLAY Fantasy Aintree game for the chance to win an iPad2, a year's subscription to Racing UK, a £100 bet and £500 in cash.

Become a Fantasy Owner by selecting your stable of jockeys and trainers and then picking horses in all 21 festival races.

The three jockeys and three trainers that you choose score points for you every time they have a winner or placed horse in each of the Festival's 21 races and double points in the John Smith's Grand National on Saturday, April 9.

You’ll also start with 21 betting 'credits', one to use in each race throughout the three day festival. You will score additional points every time your race selection wins or is placed in a race.

The aim of the game is to score the highest number of points in order to win the first prize of an iPad2, a year's subscription to Racing UK, a £100 bet and £500 in cash.

You can make changes to your stable of jockeys and trainers up to the scheduled start time of the first race of the Festival (2pm on Thursday, April 7). You can make your race selections right up to the scheduled start time of each race.

Telegraph Fantasy Aintree is easy to play and can really add to your enjoyment of a great three days of racing. Play as an individual or create a bit of friendly competition with friends and colleagues by setting up your own private league.

Create a stable of three jockeys and three trainers from the selection list. Each jockey has been rated from 1-28 and each trainer from 1-28.

The combined rating of your three jockeys must add up to at least 34.

The combined rating of your three trainers must add up to at least 34.

Your Stable
Your three Jockeys and three Trainers will score points as follows. Please note, all points are doubled for the John Smith's Grand National (3pm on Saturday, April 9):

Race Win: 40 points (80 for the Grand National)

Race Place*: 10 points (20 for the Grand National)

Your Horses
Your selected horse in each race will score points as follows:

Race Win: 10 times the Stan James Starting Price (20 times for the Grand National)
For example, if your horse wins and the Stan James starting price is 10/1, you will score 10 times the starting price i.e. 10 x 10 = 100 points scored.

Race Place*: 3 times the Stan James Starting Price (6 times for the Grand National)
For example, if your horse is placed and the Stan James starting price is 5/2, you will score 3 times the starting price i.e. 3 x 2.5 (5/2 = 5 divided by 2) = 7.5 points scored.

*Place applies as follows:

In races with 5 to 7 runners place applies to the horse coming 2nd only. In races with 8 or more horses, place applies to the horses coming 2nd and 3rd and in handicap races with 16 or more runners, place applies to the horses that come 2nd, 3rd and 4th. In races with 4 or less horses, no place applies.

Dead Heat: In the event of a dead heat for any win or place position, for the purposes of the game, all dead heated horses will score full win and place points.

Unused Credits: -5pts each unused credit.

In the event that a non runner is selected, the credit will be considered to have been used.

The Champion
The owner of the highest-scoring Fantasy Aintree Stable at the end of the Festival will win the first prize package which comprises:

- a 32GB iPad 2

- a Racing UK annual subscription (worth £99) meaning you'll be able to watch top horse racing from 30 of the UK's premier race courses including the Investec Epsom Derby and Newmarket 1,000 & 2,000 Guineas.

- a £100 bet courtesy of Stan James

- £500 in cash

Runners up
Nine runners up will each receive a £100 bet courtesy of Stan James.

What you need to do is predict outsiders that have a chance but which are completely unattractive to anyone who knows what they are doing. I spent 3 days picking with precision and skill and got to 16,000th on the last day I went 7 x 40-1 or more that I thought had not the worse chance but not far from it and with 1 race to go got up to 33rd thanks to pure luck. Ended up in the top 100 or so.

It rewards outsiders coming in and to honest eclipses the points re trainers and jockeys - my 100-1 2nd in the 5th race on day 4 scored me more than all my jockey and rider points combined.

I am not being flippant I genuinely believe that is how it is won.

Substitute the "CT" for "SK" and my post is the same. (But longer, taking into account the quoting and the smiley face) :)

Must be catching as I've done the same thing. You can use the contact us thingy and I'm sure that they'll change one of them for you if you think that you may get them muddled up in some way with regard to on-going selections.

P.S. I've just seen who our new Chairman is - hope that FISO LEADER'S ain't some 419'er.  :)

Did you follow your own tip and do Won In The Dark in the first?
Hardly seemed worth picking Big Bucks.
Unfortunately, I picked neither of the aforementioned!

Not much going on in the others so fallen to 64th. You are only 1 winner away from shooting right up the league though.

I actually have "real horse" in the last - step forward Russian War.
