Far be it from me to suspect any nefarious activity among the racing fraternity, but I (at first glance) thought the Annie Power fall could be compared to some of the simulation at Old Trafford last night.
After taking a early hammering it saved the bookies a huge bundle, £25m apparently.
Plenty of quads, trebles & doubles were riding on that race.
When there is such a huge amount hanging on a single horse, is it not too tempting for there not to be a bit of underhand business?
Maybe its just me being a cynical old bustard.

I was less than impressed that for his first 3 wins Ruby Walsh was allowed to dictate the pace unchallenged. Thankfully a late win recouped my losses and eased my irritation.

Annie Power was lucky to survive such a crashing fall, sure she will recoup the losses in time. Quality horse.

Yes Annie Power quality .. hope she's not going to be trained for one race a year like Quevega. Impossible that the fall was deliberate. Ruby was riding for Ireland and he's already a millionaire. I thought he could have done a better job at the last but the mare had so much left in the tank that she took over.

The last winner got me to 45th in this but the next one I won't have will put me in my place no doubt.

Had he been bunged a few quid to lose it I think he might have chosen a less dramatic way than trying to kill himself and horse. The Horse for some reason just jumped half a stride too early, how much of that was Ruby's fault I have no idea. Complacency perhaps? Just one of those things more likely, But what fate saving millions for the bookmakers. Up to 50 Million according to the Telegraph. Two per cent of shares were reported down on Will Hill and Ladbrokes, but they recovered after the fall.

I for one had the 4 horse Mullins accy. Would not have made me rich but it would have covered this weeks betting pot.

Champagne Fever is out of the 3.20 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase.
Possible Wreck-it-Ruby won't have a ride it that race.

Also out of the Mullins team on day two of the festival is Pylonthepressure, who misses the Weatherbys Champion Bumper (5.15pm).

Agree - Ruby sent the mare needlessly at the last hurdle at full throttle and knew well that she would stand off plenty and this type of fall usually unfolds as it did - no major trauma. Youd swear Townend could see it was going to happen by going plenty wide on the winner. Smells but as aways will be accused of talking thru our pockets etc but no better profession than a jockey to think thru their pockets.
