It doesn't get any closer than this, coming down the hill Nevblake one length up on Richt, davidleve, Ashers, Striker and Muddy !
He was kidding us all, Richt bursts five lengths clear and can see the crowd now, Nevblake and davidleve come next followed by a fast-finishing Spencer4, Muddy, Ashers and Striker...
Richt on 62, 3 ahead of Nevblake on 59 with Spencer4 on 56...
As they approach the last, Richt still has a 3 length lead over Nevblake. davidleve is a further 4 lengths down and that's probably it...

At the back, SamD is three lengths down on The Dude Abides...

Must be a new record for Richt. Well played and yet another new winner, can anyone defend this title?

SamD starts to make progress, he'll need a 7 mile event to be seen at his best I think...

Up front Richt wins the race, three lengths clear of Nevblake with Spencer4 taking third. Richt's score of 68 is one better than Ashers' score last year, but two below Nevblake's course record.

Well played Rich, was trying to fit McCoy into my team today but was 1 short, in the end he made the difference.

Great comp again Spencer, looking forward to next year already.

May have been a different story then if you had sacrificed Paul Nicholls for a cheaper trainer to enable you to get McCoy in.

Good contest today.

May have the hang of this now. But, after logging on this morning, was surprised to find no fifth, sixth or seventh leg...
SamD starts to make progress, he'll need a 7-mile event to be seen at his best I think...

Anyway, shall look forward to next year. Thanks for running competition, Spencer4.

Are you asking for my permission? Please go ahead if you like, though I'd prefer if you created something a bit different rather than just copying my idea.

I'm not sure this format would work as well over a festival like Aintree. There are too few recognizable races I think. Maybe Royal Ascot would be a closer match, but that's for the future.

I disagree. One merit of your format is that all it needs is a meeting lasting a few days with at least one tricky large field handicap every day. It doesn't need many recognisable races, (although Aintree does in fact have a host of such races). The only merit of Cheltenham over Aintree as regards your format is that it lasts four days compared to Aintree's three. So I'd certainly enter an identical comp for the National meeting.

BTW - thanks for your time and effort in running another enjoyable comp this year.
