2012-13 Cheltenham Chase £7,000 contest: 1 Dec to 15 March

Lovetheraces.com has re-launched the free-to-play £7,000 Cheltenham Chase competition after a two-year gap.

Game blurb:
From the Hennessy to the Tingle Creek and the King George to the Cleeve Hurdle, every Saturday features a key race, before culminating in the four championship contests at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Build up points in these races over the course of the season and you could see yourself being crowned the Cheltenham Chase champion and bagging the £4,000 first prize in the process.

Each week all you have to do is pick three horses plus one reserve from the selected feature races from Sat 1 Dec to Fri 15 March. If your horse places in the first three, you will be awarded the points according to the starting price (so, 10 points for a 10/1 winner, 1.75 points for 7/4 scorer etc). However, if a selected horse wins the race, it will earn double points.

In addition, there are four £625 monthly prizes for each of the calendar months December-March and ten spot prizes of £50 in Coral betting vouchers, just for playing.

To add an extra element of spice to the 2012-13 season, sign up to play the Cheltenham Chase game by 1pm on Sat 1 Dec.

Not quite sure of how the points are calculated. Are they based on SPs or on the nonsensical prices shown on the site?

All horses will score points for finishing in the top three of each race, with points based on their official starting price, with examples as follows: Published Starting Price Points 8/11 = 0.73pts Evens = 1pt 11/8 = 1.38pts 5/2 = 2.5pts 100/30 = 3.33pts 13/2 = 6.5pts 15/2 = 7.5pts 20/1 = 20pts However, if the chosen horse wins the race, they will score double point

Thanks for the info on the odds being based on SP. It seemed common sense but I couldn't find it yesterday. It seems a decent game, the main downside is that there is a real potential for forgetting to make one's selections occasionally unless one is spurred on by getting a good start.

My reserve came second so pretty crap start.
