Had a feeling he'd put in a performance like this tonight. *cough* shop window *cough* mercenary *cough cough*

More unfortunate than anything, really. Has hardly anything to do with any follow through.

Hindsight again. Rui Patricio with 8 pts sitting on the bench. Swayed by Loris.

If Portugal win this I think they'll be the worst team ever to win a major tournament.

Greece in 2004 had a squad of limited players and so can be excused to some degree, but Portugal have a squad of genuine talent and are still absolutely awful.

One win in 90 minutes in the whole tournament.

France were pretty lacklustre and probably more affected by Ronaldo going off than Portugal were.

My top scorer tonight was Rui Patrício, stuck on my bench with 8. A very flat end to what's been a reasonably fun summer diversion from the real business of fantasy football.

Congratulations to Portugal. I know I said they're the worst team ever to win a major tournament, (and I stand by that - they've been largely dreadful to watch), but they worked hard and won it fair and square. Seeing Pepe and Ronaldo emerge victorious is very difficult to stomach though. :?

Joao Mario has impressed me, hadn't heard of him but was always in the mix. They have been clever when required and this is the clearly the result of building on what they've learned over recent years.

So near to going out in their draw against Hungary - I think it's much more about getting the luck to qualify in third and by so doing getting by far the easier side of the draw. They did show their durability in the final after an early body blow, even if riding their luck a little in the last minute of the 90.

Tbh they deserved to win on the night as much as France but avoiding Italy, Spain and Germany also crucial.

Possibly the weakest side to win it since Greece.

Yes, it may not have been planned but Portugal did have the benefit of knowing the lopsidedness of the draw by the time they came to play their third game.

Should they do what they do in the rugby and rank them 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15...?

As for third place problem, UEFA have several options:

1) Stay with this format

2) Winners and 2 best runners up go into quarters

3) Winners straight through, 4 best runners up play-off for last 2 places

4) 32 teams

5) 16 teams

5) Everyone qualifies and you have two group phases!

Before kickoff tonight I'd have been just as confident in your Eder scoring in the final than the Swansea one..

Yes, and proceeded to the next round in accordance with the rules.

I never said the rules weren't stupid.

Defensively sound. Don't think you can take it away from them. They been good the last two games. France were lucky at stages too. Italy best team in it but that's the way it goes
