UEFA.com Euro U21 2015 - Chit-chat, official FISO league and knockout sidegame thread

After getting the go ahead from the mods, I can now start the official thread for this summer's Under 21s competition. The UEFA.com games hasn't actually opened yet, but when it does the join code will be found in this very post:

Knockout Competition sidegame:

Also, I won't be doing a pairs sidegame as has been the case for several summers now, but I will run a simpler head-to-head knockout competition. This will include a 'repechage' bracket, so everyone that enters is guaranteed at least two games in the competition.

To enter the knockout competition, you need to:

a) enter the official league when it opens

and

b) add yourself to the quote-and-post list below, including your FISO ID and team name

The tournament starts on June 17th, so not long to go and hopefully the UEFA.com site will open up in the next few days.

Crud, I've heavily relied on Ironfist's or from4corners' top draw researching skills and knowledge of European football to do well in the past. I'm not sure I can swim on my own!!

hmmm, I see an entire post of mine, with side considerations I had thought useful and interesting for the topic, has ben removed...


as Taca is no mod, I wonder who was so zealous to stomp his boots in
other mods had at least PMd me to notify me why they had to modify my posts,
here I can't honestly fathom it,
I of course accept moderation... what's puzzling is having to swallow it blindly
(if you're not even notified about what you unawarely did wrong, you risk to innocently repeat it)

I can confirm you League creation is enabled, I tested it

I think we should wait until the game is properly up and running, it's going to get confusing for some as the url is a Champions League one, which will obviously change in a matter of days.

I couldn't find much information at all about the Czech republic lineups. I think it was soccerway that had some stats on caps etc during the qualifying campaign for the other nations involved but really found nothing except the recent friendly against England for the Czech lineups.

It's possible that the wildcard might be deployed immediately once the lineups are better known...

By the way, what might be England's starting lineup? I am especially confused about the back line. As I am not from UK, it's more of a guessing game to me how many of the better known Premier League players will get into starting lineup and how many regulars from qualification.

Has anybody found any cheap gems they are willing to share?

I'm planning on sharing everything I've gleaned before kickoff. Since we're not doing a pair comp I guess the priority becomes to just get a FISO winner!

Early cheapies of choice are Guerreiro (4.0) who looks likely the be LB for Portugal and Scholz (4.0) looks a strong possibility to start for Denmark.

Apparently Masopust (4.5m mid) has played recently for CR so may have a good chance of starting. He would be invaluable as essentially there doesn't seem to be many cheap viable midfielders this year. Khalili started the last friendly for Sweden but....

....it seems really tough to predict as finding previous U21 lineups is tricky for many teams. Even then, there are many teams who had players with the senior squads for the last friendlies so the lineups may be misleading (for example, Brock-Madsen scored 2 against Sweden U21 yesterday inc a pen, but only played because Fischer and Sisto are with the seniors for the Serbia game tomorrow).

It's tricky enough too predict what the England starting lineup will be. In yesterday's friendly Kane was on the bench.

By the way, what might be England's starting lineup? I am especially confused about the back line. As I am not from UK, it's more of a guessing game to me how many of the better known Premier League players will get into starting lineup and how many regulars from qualification.

Basically, Butland is nailed on in goal. Garbutt looks good for left back (and is on some set pieces - he'd be my choice as he's only 5.0). Jenkinson probably favourite for right back. At CB it's Stones + any one of Keane/Gibson/Chambers. Gibson has played a lot recently (and played the full 90 scoring the only goal yesterday) but Chambers came on for Stones at HT so who knows. I'd go Garbutt by a country mile.

(Note for some reason Gibson isn't in the transfer list in the game atm - although I'm sure he was yesterday. Weird.)

Yeah, I had Moore, but was wondering will he play or not, but ok, Garbutt it is then, at least I'll have someone from Everton in the team .

As for Gibson - he is in the list, but on the second page, maybe that's why you missed him.
