To be honest I wish the game hadn't started yet. Before it starts there is hope but once it starts then there is only reality

All this piling on when a goal is scored just isn't English and was bound to end in tears. We need to go back to a handshake at arms length and a short "Jolly good goal old bean". All this close physical contact is so European. A nice cup of tea and a cucumber sandwich (cut into triangles) is what they need.

I've just consulted the rulebook, and apparently we have to call up John stones now.

Excellent play from both sides, Italy are making more chances though. I can see Lallana coming on for Rooney, though that was a fantastic cross by Roo.

Great play by Sterling and great cross by Rooney. Sturridge met it perfectly and knew he'd scored the second he hit it.

Welbeck and Sterling working their socks off and best players on pitch. Rooney looking better now he's realised he's a support player and not the big man.

Johnson terrifies me. Gerrard's radar needs sorting. Hart is dodgy - lucky to get away with that spill.

Gerrard's been very poor.

Concerned by how easily they're waltzing through our central midfield.

Great below the belt comment as Gary Lineker asks Thiery Henry if he ever got away with a handball.
