Re: Taca's 2014 FIFA World Cup Pairs - Round of 16 Update 29
Doh! 138 points for the round and the Algeria keeper sitting on my bench.
Would be only 2 points behind the round leader with him in the team. Now do i risk my lowest scorer (8) for Dempsey in the final match, or would that just be greedy . Round prize is hardly worth going for.
Apologies, this is in the wrong thread (senior moment )

Disastrous round for me 4 useless strikers ending with 2 point slimani and average elsewhere apart from Ospina(13) Belkalem(16) sorry Morrison Dullforce, enjoying the game now, will continue anyway to see what it could of been.

No need to apologise. I made some errors with my subs and selections as well.
Congrats jpk and Knulpuk, I was looking at the scores before, and during, the Belgium and USA game and when I saw that only Knulpuk's score was going up I knew our goose was cooked.
After my harsh words about the FIFA game website in the first few days, I'm enjoying it now and will play to the end.
I will also follow the Pairs competition with interest. Cheers Taca for organising. Excellent as always.
My predictions:
Russia v England & Ghana v Chile - Semis
& Russia - Chile final. (gotta stick with the team that knocked us out)
The other four teams prove me wrong

Cameroon are so upset by going out at this stage that they have declared war with South Korea, for the second time this week. Those bustard Koreans will suffer.

I heard you took bribes to lose the game. No point in starting another war over it especially as it was the Netherlands who thrashed you. If it was Germany we would back you all the way however as they took our bikes the last time.Spencer4 wrote:Cameroon are so upset by going out at this stage that they have declared war with South Korea, for the second time this week. South Korea are probably the only nation we could beat in a war, we're not stupid. They're much shorter than us.Surprised wrote:I heard you took bribes to lose the game. QF Preview
Quarter Final Preview - Match 60 and 59
Match 60:
France v Ghana
France - Kris-neo (63rd in FISO league) & Fingerpass (83rd)
Ghana - Vid (9th) & Golden Bear (87th)
Both advanced from their Round of 16 ties on combined totals, but Ghana did far better - 22pts better in fact, with their WC wildcards, so you have to suspect it'll be the same story here. Vid is looking on top form and GB has the very desirable knack of pulling victory from the jaws of defeat. The African challenge for the crown could end here, but you do have a whole continent backing you Kris & FP
Taca says - France par dix points
Match 59:
Chile v Costa Rica
Chile - Stemania (2nd) & From4corners (5th)
Costa Rica - Wiseowl65 (19th) & Lamps92 (46th)
No doubt about it, Chile are the team to beat in this competition, with the combined talents of Stemania and From4corners proving a formidable pairing - but then again, new round means new team in this game, so will overconfidence possibly be their downfall? Wiseowl and Lamps will certainly hope so!

I may be able to help. I had a rather interesting email from a friendly Nigerian fella who works at a bank and says there is a huge sum of money which belongs to no one and that I can have it. You may as well get in touch with him.

Re: QF Preview
Quarter Final Preview - Match 57 and 58
Match 57:
Netherlands v England
Netherlands (tournament seeding 8th) - Gooberman & Deppy
England (10th) - Moonlightdribbler & The dude abides
The Netherlands have surpassed my expectations both times I've previewed them this tournament but really their top 8 seeding says they'd reach this stage. England on the other hand have outperformed just a touch, but there really is nothing between these two. Tournament to date there's just 4 points between them. I can't pick the draw here so I'm going to come down on the side of the Dutchmen but it's surely going to be close
Mystery prediction - Netherlands by 3
Match 58:
Honduras v Russia
Honduras (22nd) - tenpinterry & phatbat
Russia - knulpuk & jpk
Have Russia managed to creep under the radar? I couldn't find any earlier previews of their matches. Probably says more about me dipping in and out of the thread to be honest. Anyhoo....about that game eh...
What these four lack in firepower probably will be made up for in terms of effort. Yes they both came through the round of 16 with the two lowest scores of the eight winners but they had to earn their way there in the first place through tricky groups, the Hondurans being particularly strong winning theirs and scoring well into the 600s. Was the Honduras scoring in the second round just a blip. I'm guessing it was.
Mystery prediction - Honduras to go through 2-0
