Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
I hate the cut and auto replacements. The cut replacement especially, if you pick someone who misses the cut, surely that's hard luck? The random replacement will be 'outside the top ten'? So it's not inconceivable someone picks a horrible team, gets given the guy in 11th with 2 rounds still to go, who goes on to win it and earn undeserved points, rewarding a poor selection? Don't like that at all...
However....we'll all still play

Hmmm... In two minds whether to play this year. That cut replacement rule is truly pathetic

I concur, cut replacement rule stinks, but I'm in.
Wait till you see the video you have to watch from "us or our partners" if you ever want to employ this rule ... might dissuade even the hardened criminals amongst us

Will be joining although site seems to be don at the moment.
Just one question on this cut replacement feature. Under what circumstances would you not want to,replace a player that doesn't make the cut? Why have to "unlock" it. Why not have it operate automatically?

It's an appalling cynical concept, and I think the game this year is much poorer for it

Not a fan but they've got to pay for the game/prizes somehow. It is free to play after all.

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
There are other ways they could have made you watch videos which would have been preferable, for example give you 3 transfers if you don't watch or unlimited if you do.
We have lost OFL due to economic reasons and that was a pay to play tourney, so don't have an issue with them forcing us to do this sort of thing to cover their prizes etc. but really wish something less radical was done.
Ideally something like everyone given 2 subs, and a further 2 if you watch videos, so you also have to do some work to ensure you get a full team each week would have been the ideal scenario in my view.

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
And always was, before they did this? With prizes...you can't tell me this was a cost cutting exercise. More like a revenue earning exercise. Which on the face of them are the same things. But they're not, totally different mindsets behind each. Cost cutting would have led to the same game for no prizes. Revenue earning has led us to here. I get it, it's free, so suck it up. But the entire mechanic of what was a great game, has changed. For the poorer. And free or not, I think we're entitled to comment.Maldini wrote:Not a fan but they've got to pay for the game/prizes somehow. It is free to play after all.

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
Having to watch a video in order to progress is very common in free-to-play apps on both Android and iOS. It works well and you soon get used to it.

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
Watch a video before you confirm your team under the old rules would have been fine. It's not the videos that are the problem, it's this silly substitution rule that's the problem. Pick poorly, no research, get rewarded with the winner potentially and score more than the guy who picks 6 of the top 7. Inherently unfair. And that's the point I'm making, not that you have to endure advertising. As you say, in the modern world we're all used to that and understand why it's there?
But I get it. It's free, it's not as good as it used to be, but I'll still play and enjoy it. I just think it's worthy of some debate surely?

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
Couldnt agree more with the comments on the substitution rule, can reward people for poor choices.
Trotter hit the nail on the head with limited transfers or unlimited if you watch the video - would mean they would get their clicks to keep offering prizes and keep it free.
I have just entered my team in the league

Re: Fantasy Race to Dubai 2016
Geoff I had that problem. If you are using a mobile or iPad I don't think it's optimised for those devices. I got on on my iPad using a different link posted on Twitter. Search on Fantasy race error and that link will appear.Geoffv wrote:Sorry not sure what that means.dorf27 wrote:The problem is the first digit which is Capital i...cheersGeoffv wrote:I don't know why but I can't seem to log on to enter a team - been the case since Saturday.
