Premier League Preview (Gameweek 15)

Post by Totelfootball »

The midweek talking point was provided by Real Madrid's alleged gamesmanship against Ajax in the Champion League. In order to go into the knock-out stage with clean disciplinary records, Jose Mourinho seemingly instructed Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso to deliberately get themselves sent off. His plan was executed to perfection with both men receiving second yellows for blatant time wasting, his latest stroke of genius is a reminder of how much the Premier League needs his return; hurry up and retire Fergie, we need to be entertained! We have a tantalising set of Premier League fixtures coming up, will you be the Special One this weekend?

This weekend's big game comes from the basement of the table for a change. West Ham entertain Wigan with both clubs occupying relegation berths, a Hammers defeat would send the club into deep crisis and could leave them 7 points from safety. Ex-Wimbledon defender Wally Downes was this week appointed defensive coach at Upton Park, being one of the founder members of the Crazy Gang he will no doubt bring some much needed spirit to the club. This really is a must win for the home side and they will have to improve dramatically from their limp defeat to Liverpool last Saturday; captain Scott Parker missed that defeat but will return for Wigan, whilst Mark Noble will miss out through injury. Wigan are in marginally better form than the Hammers, they had Rodallega and Alcaraz sent off in their respectable 2-0 defeat to Manchester United last weekend; the influential duo are suspended for the trip to east London and we think this will tip the balance in West Ham's favour, take them at 11/10 to record their first league win in two months. With Rodallega missing we feel that Wigan won't possess a scoring threat so make Robert Green your number one and Scott Parker your midfield general.

Bolton are in flying form at the moment and it is hard to see anything other than another three points for them at home to lowly Blackpool, in our book they are 4/9 shots but they are an eyecatching 8/13 to get the job done. Goals will surely be the order of the day as Bolton have scored 13 in their last 4 league matches, whilst Blackpool are not averse to conceding a few. We will be investing in five goals or more at 4/1, we suggest you do the same. Bolton strike duo Davies and Elmander are irresistible at present, make them your fantasy forward line this weekend.

Manchester United somehow remain unbeaten this Premier League season, by their high standards they are in bad form at the moment. Their midweek European win against a weak Rangers was unconvincing, but it did mark a Wayne Rooney goal albeit from the penalty spot. It is too early to determine if he is back to his best and Berbatov is useless so we are not convinced they will offer much of a scoring threat against Blackburn. Darren Fletcher has developed into United's most important midfielder, an accolade unimaginable five years ago; he is injured this weekend and his absence could be a deciding factor. Allardyce's men have been in cracking form of late, winning 3 of their last 4 league games; we think they can put up a typically stubborn performance at Old Trafford and secure at least a draw. Blackburn +1 at a generous 3/1 are our bet of the weekend.

Fulham and West Brom are in abysmal form, both teams suffered 3 goal margin home defeats last weekend and we think their woes will continue against Birmingham and Everton respectively. We can't see Birmingham or Everton conceding so we think your fantasy defence should be a combination of the two; Dann, Ridgewell, Baines and Jagielka are our suggestions. Everton are a value 8/13 and the Brummies +1 are 3/4, get knee deep in a double at nearly 15/8.

Recent form is key in fantasy football and it is worth highlighting some of the names who have been scoring highly of late. Hart, Foster, Robinson, Shawcross, Evra, Dann, Roger Johnson, Ridgewell, Van Der Vaart, Pedersen, Bale, Downing, N'Zogbia, Kevin Davies, Elmander and Tevez are all hot properties at the moment. If you are serious about winning some cash this weekend then a sprinkling of the aforementioned is mandatory.

This weekend’s competition kicks off as always at 3pm on Saturday and concludes with Sunday’s televised clash of Spurs vs Liverpool. So don't waste time, strike your fantasy bet at http://www.totelfootball.com/affiliate/fiso/index.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Not sure what's happened with the prize pool this week but it doesn't seem to tally.

The pool value is now listed in euros as 1000. Minus 20% rake is 800.

Total amount won by sterling account users is £278.59. Using today's tourist rate - 1.1414 euros to the £ that equates to 317.98 euros.

The total amount of winnings from euro account holders = 410.93

Total amount of euros paid out in total = 728.91

Shortfall = 71.09

1st chrispyb €2.30 €197.15
2nd chrispyb €2.30 €39.43
3rd chrispyb €2.17 €37.20
4th tso £3.00 £51.43
5th bbtb £5.00 £85.72
6th 026354103290367 €2.00 €17.14
6th 026311103290556 €5.00 €42.86
6th bbtb £5.00 £42.86
9th vinnysvillians €2.50 €21.43
10th bbtb £5.00 £42.86
10th Scratcher £5.00 £42.86
12th 026303103300574 €3.00 €12.86
13th 026342103300128 €5.00 €21.43
13th 179233 €5.00 €21.43
13th tso £3.00 £12.86

Could you please explain why my stakes and winnings have currently reverted to Euro's all of a sudden as they have always been sterling :?: Here is a shot of the leaderboard as before

1st chrispyb £2.30 119pts
2nd chrispyb £2.30 108pts
3rd chrispyb £2.17 107pts
4th tso £3.00 102pts
5th bbtb £5.00 100pts
6th 026354103290367 €2.00 90pts
6th bbtb £5.00 90pts
8th vinnysvillians €2.50 89pts
9th Scratcher £5.00 88pts
9th bbtb £5.00 88pts
9th 026311103290556 €5.00 88pts
12th 026303103300574 €3.00 87pts
13th tso £3.00 86pts
13th 026342103300128 €5.00 86pts
13th 179233 €5.00 86pts

Now it is showing my stake and winnings as Euro's which is incorrect and obviously less than it should be.

Your winnings should be shown in Sterling, to be honest with you I cannot tell you why this is not the case - all I know is that there has been a technical glitch somewhere. Your issue was reported earlier this evening, as it is now out of office hours I doubt the issue will be resolved until tomorrow morning.

The one thing I can be certain about is that you are due a payout of £273.78, apologies for the inconvenience.

5th bbtb £5.00 £85.72
6th 026354103290367 €2.00 €17.14
6th 026311103290556 €5.00 €42.86

13th 179233 €5.00 €21.43
13th tso £3.00 £12.86

The first three payouts should be displayed in Sterling, as explained above an error has occured somewhere - unfortunately I'm not technical enough to tell you where.

When the correction is made you will see that we have paid out £552.37 and €137.15. We are using a currency conversion of 1.2 so:

552.37 x 1.2 = 662.84 + 137.15 = 799.99

Total Payout = €799.99

How did your team get on this weekend? We're glad you have decided to return.

I haven't. However I have previously gone halves with Chrispy but did not this week. Which is unfortunate for me but fortunate for him on two counts - one he keeps all the money and two he didn't have had me questioning his sanity about picking Berboon numerous time
