Fantasy League F1 2011

Post by SgB »

It's back! :D

http://www.fantasyleaguef1.com

Prizes, points and format seem much the same as last year, but some changes to the transfer rules:
  • 25 transfers per season (was 20)
  • unlimited changes between races (was 3)
Also, the Warm-Up Championship consists of only the first race this year thanks to Bahrain being cancelled.

A few 'headlines' taken from the competition website:

This year, the transfer quota for the Main Championship has been increased from 20 to 25, while the limit of three team changes between races has been scrapped.

Team changes can be made at all times during the competition, except for a two-hour period after the scheduled start time of each race.

To make changes, click on the CHANGE SELECTION button on your team screen and follow the on-screen instructions.

Changes are unlimited right up until the scheduled start of the Main Championship - the second Grand Prix of the season in Malaysia on Sunday 10th April.

Warm-Up ChampionshipThe Warm-Up Championship covers the first race of the season - the Australian Grand Prix on Sunday 27th March. The top team manager wins £500 worth of merchandise from the F1 team of their choice, including racing jacket, polo shirt, cap and other accessories.

Main ChampionshipThe Main Championship runs from the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday 10th April, thus covering the remaining 18 races of the 2011 Formula One season. The entrant scoring the most points during this period will win £5,000 in cash and a fantastic trip for two to the 2012 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa. The runner-up wins £1,000 in cash, with the third-placed entrant pocketing a cool £500 in cash. Fourth to 10th-placed managers will each win £100 in cash. And finally, 11th to 20th-placed managers will each win a free, consolatory entry into 2012 edition of Fantasy League F1!

Individual Race PrizesFor each of the 19 races this season, the entrant scoring the highest number of points in an individual race will win themselves £100 in cash. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for details regarding ties for individual race prizes.

Mini ChampionshipThe Mini Championship runs from the European Grand Prix (Sunday 26th June) until the Italian Grand Prix (Sunday 11th September). The manager scoring the highest cumulative total points in these races will win a prize, to be announced by the start of the Main Championship.

Friends & Enemies Leagues
As well as being entered into a Prize League, you are also able to set up your own Friends & Enemies League to take on friends, family and work colleagues for the greatest prize of all - personal glory! The winner of each Friends & Enemies League with eight or more participants at the start of the Main Championship will receive an exclusive League winner's trophy!

Friends & Enemies League Championship
How does your group of friends and colleagues compare to everyone else playing the game? Now's the time to find out. When you create your Friends & Enemies League you'll be automatically entered into our competition to find the best league of them all. The winners will receive a prestigious trophy and five Fantasy League gold medals to share amongst their victorious league members.

Prize Leagues
Upon registration, you're automatically entered into a private league with 19 other entrants. You will battle it out for the honour of being your Prize League's champion and to be the winner of a much-coveted gold medal if you finish first and a silver medal for the second-placed team's manager.

Prizes

There's £20,000 in prizes up for grabs over the course of the 2011 Formula 1 season, including:

Warm-Up Championship
1st Place: £500 worth of team gear (from the team of your choice!) including racing jackets, polos, caps and accessories.

The winner of the Warm-Up Championship is the manager of the team that accumulates the highest cumulative points total from the first race of the season in Australia (please be aware that the Bahrain GP has been postponed, resulting in a shorter-than-normal Warm-Up Championship).

Main Championship
1st Place: £5,000 in cash and a trip for two to Spa Grand Prix in Belgium in 2012!

The winner of the Main Championship is the manager of the team that accumulates the highest cumulative points total from the second race of the season (Malaysia) to the final race of the season (Brazil).

2nd Place: £1,000 in cash.

3rd Place: £500 in cash.

4th-10th Place: The remaining team managers in the top ten places win £100 in cash.

11th-20th Place: The team managers finishing in 11th to 20th place will each be given a free, consolatory entry worth £10 into the 2012 edition of Fantasy League F1.

Race Winners

1st Place: £100 in cash (awarded for each of the 20 races).

No real prize for winning the F&E League once again....

I've set it up anyway and added details to the first post above.

DRIVERS: MOVEMENT IN RACE
Move up from grid qualifying position (top 10 finishers only*): 1 point per position gained
(up to a maximum of 10 points)
Move down from grid qualifying position*: Minus 1 point
*must be a classified finisher (see above)

looking at this rule am i reading it right? it you start 15 on grid an finished 11 do you get 4 points or not as you are not top ten??

also what are peoples thoughts of the prices for each driver as there is not much talking on here yet.

i will start with:

Maldonado: i know no experience but williams could have a decent car and early in the season could be fighting it out at the high end of the mid field but for the extra 3mil i think i would go for Barrichello

ps what was the winning total last year

My interpretation of that rule is that, no, you will not get any points because you have not finished in the top ten.

With regard to prices, I haven't yet checked them out so cannot help you.

No idea regards last years winning total because I made such a bad start, I lost interest in the game very early on.

Good luck.

Yep, definitely no points given in that situation.

I can't remember the winning score last year but I was somewhere in the top 50 with 1635.

I'll be keeping an eye on Renault and Williams at their prices but there's nothing too obvious standing out for me this year. Of course that may change come Australia qualifying.

"There's £20,000 in prizes up for grabs over the course of the 2011 Formula 1 season"

Wow, that Spa trip must be good. I make it that the Mini Championship prize & the Spa trip are worth some £10k!!!

I do like Fantasy League and their games but I really think they should stop overstating the prize funds.

Winning score last year was 1723 in 16 races and this year there are 18 races in the main comp.

I'm not keen on the increase in transfers to 25 but there are two extra races so fair enough. The removal of the transfers per race limit is good though and means more will run out of transfers early

Thanks for setting up the league Jester.

I have pushed out the boat this year and entered two teams.

He was not a Legard in his own lunchtime

Legard, gone and forgotten

They're both lucky dip's at the moment because I haven't seen any testing yet apart from hearing Lewis moaning that the McLaren is too slow - whether that is true or mis-information remains to be seen.

KERS is back this season for the big boys so who knows what will happen?

Does anybody know where I could see the total points scored in 2010? I'm interested in weighing up if I want a couple of Superheros & a couple of also ransd or spread it out a bit. Also if its worthwhile tieing up cash in the constructor. Can find anything so far... :?

Don't forget this competition doesn't start until the second GP in Kuala Lumpar.

Those thinking 'Bum, I missed the start!' - you still have until April 10th to sort your line-up out! :D

A few surprises (for me at least!) in qualifying for Oz:

Code: Select all

Pos Driver Qualifying Time
1 S Vettel 1:23.529
2 L Hamilton 1:24.307
3 M Webber 1:24.395
4 J Button 1:24.779
5 F Alonso 1:24.974
6 V Petrov 1:25.247
7 N Rosberg 1:25.421
8 F Massa 1:25.599
9 K Kobayashi 1:25.626
10 S Buemi 1:27.066

Hi guys, not sure if anyone remembers me but I posted on here a bit in 2005 when I erm...did pretty well in this 8-) . Played a couple of teams the year after but lost interest. Thinking of coming back and making a serious effort this year, but have been out of the game for a long time. Does anyone have an idea of the number of entries last year? Do many people play a large numbers of teams like other fantasy games?

Thanks

Well, Race One over with. Petrov the surprise for me. Heidfield not at the races at all though. FI/Sauber & ToroRosso all improving. Hamilton surely the best value. Wondering if it might be an idea to leave £2m spare to ensure I have two of Vettel/Alonso & Hamilton.

Anybody any other thoughts so far?

Before the race started I thought Hamilton and Button were the worst value of all the top drivers. I am now having a rethink!!

I picked Petrov, think everybody else will be now.

Petrov & Perez were the undisputed stars of the show, the latter being very unlucky.

Difficult to see if this heralds a new found maturity for Petrov or not - I think it's too early to judge.

Toro Rosso showed good speed in testing which is why I went in heavy on them in my team. Pity about Kobiyashi  but Sauber and Toro Rosso looking like good bargain picks.

I think the Williams has some pace too. Barrichello was flying until he had brain fade

The pricing for the top drivers is about right... it will be picking the midfield runners/tail enders which will be hard to judge, although Hispania look a complete no no
