Re: TFC T20 2018
I have 20 transfer left and was thinking of ditching non-qualifiers like Sterling and Zampa.
The rest of the teams are okay and sitting a bit far back (around 1,250)
Is it too late for a miracle of is it time to load up on Sussex players and pray?

Re: TFC T20 2018
Twenty..?!
I've got max of ten.....
I think my only option is to gamble on four teams for Finals Day and pile up on their players.
Definitely drop all my Kent players as I'll be happy enough to get there!
Glamorgan tomorrow it is then!

Unusual for me
Fancy both Sussex and Glamorgan so it's time to get stuck in tomorrow
Keep missing the deadlines which is handy for transfers but not so much for the chances of success

Re: TFC T20 2018
20 left is surely way too many. 8-9 is probably ‘par’. I’ve made the mistake in previous seasons of holding too many back for the quarters and finals day. After all, they’re only single games, don’t score any more points than the first round games, no opportunity for extra games (3-1s etc). Even finals day is a bit of a gamble, with half the players only getting a single game, dodgy September weather, international stars coming back into teams to steal the runs and wickets from the county stalwarts...jimwinn wrote:I have 20 transfer left and was thinking of ditching non-qualifiers like Sterling and Zampa.
Anyway, I’m allowed to be smug - currently sitting in 1st place! - albeit without 20 transfers left!

Re: TFC T20 2018
I have slipped back but have enough transfers to pile on one team, and have a captain in each game as well, so no guesses as to which one. We have qualified and have 2 games this week, then hopefully a home quarter final I will go to that game where ever it is, will be my last game. Good Luck Rob.

Agree with Rob. When I managed to sneak it last year think I had 7 or 8 left going into quater finals and two left to tweak things for finals day. One in the top hundred this year but too far back to mount a challenge. Hopefully might keep within touching distance in £25 elite to have an interest going into finals day. Good luck to all for the run in.

It's a way back but I think when I won I only had five playing on finals day - transfers all used well before then.
Luckily for me no-one else had any either!
Memory not what it could be but I thought it was the first year of T20 - think it must have been the first year the Telegraph ran a separate fantasy game though? I remember the prize was a grand - don't remember what I did with it though?!! lol
Edit: Just checked and I had six going into finals day with just two transfers remaining. Didn't use any in the QFs! I don't think many took it very seriously in that first season and I took advantage!

Re: TFC T20 2018
The Big Man is back.Finch has returned. But odds are against Sorrey qualifying. One to muse over this pm.
I like 12/13 transfers at this stage.2/3 for each QF and 2/3 for Finals Day,When I won a couple of years back this formula worked, primarily because all the QFs were won by outsiders. This left the leaders with next to no transfers and players for finals day.I remember bringing in and captaining the wonderful returning superstar Dre Russ and Test man Mark Wood, among others.I came from 1,000 points behind.
I'm too far back this year for lightning to strike twice, but there is no set formula for this absorbing game.

Hi Jester have you any ideas when the first Telegraph T20 comp was? I would be interested to know! Cheers MaccaJester wrote: ↑14 Aug 2018, 18:46 It's a way back but I think when I won I only had five playing on finals day - transfers all used well before then.

It was 2008 - I won the inaugural competition!
It was an odd set-up really - the T20 and county game ran within the same competition as I recall but they somehow separated the T20 scores into an league of its own. I recall one of the players close to me told me he wasn't a threat as he was doing too well in the overall league. Luckily for me!

Re: TFC T20 2018
Has anyone ever had a reply from the people who run this game for the Telegraph? I've never heard back from 'tickets' raised online. In search of differentials I asked them why Jerome Taylor was on 0pts even though he was available to transfer in and had played two games by then (and were his points added once their error was realised?). Ditto Wayne Parnell - could you add him please? Already played 2-3 games... but no response.
I think they've given up on this game altogether. Not enough players, and I doubt they will repeat it next year. Not good enough really for a paid game. Hopeless marketing. I've been to a few T20 games. Absolutely nothing in the way of marketing - sponsorship, guerrilla marketing, handouts, viral marketing, social media campaigns. Seems they rely only on repeat customers, and that base has been dwindling.

Jermoe Taylor had 279 points last time I looked.
Don't see Parnell in the game. Though. I can make do with one of the other 180 odd bowlers that are in the game
I've emailed Telegraph Towers a couple of times. They've always responded and sorted out my issue pretty quickly.
Not sure about the rest of your whinge . Is it to do with T20 cricket in general, or the fantasy T20 game I think T20 cricket is bigger than it has ever been. Great fun and sold out crowds. The fantasy game is only in it's infancy. Yet 10,000+ teams entered. Should rival the fantasy football any day soon.

I've contacted the game organisers on Facebook and always had a rapid response.
Good point about some of the marketing of the TFC T20 game at T20 games. Seems like an opportunity.

Have never asked any T20 questions...I am far too bad at it to worry! However I have always found Ian at Tele Towers to be as helpful as possible with general inquiries in relation to the County Championship game..☺

Was trying to find that out too a few weeks back. Had thought it'd be 1st North v 4 South, 2N v 3S and vv But no idea.
So just the winner of Notts v Yorks to qualify... or if a draw, then Warks if they win.
And Sussex qualify if they beat Middlesex, or if they lose, then Glamorgan go through with a win over Surrey or Finch and Roy can go mammoth and sneak it on NRR.

With top two in each guaranteed a home draw they can't play each other, so it must be a random draw of thirds and fourths?

Re: TFC T20 2018
I couldn't find it anywhere either, but pretty sure it is 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 North v South. That 6 runs that lost Somerset the game, could cost Glos a home
1/4 final as well. Although you could say its our fault we lost tonight, but that penalty does make a difference. Think Sussex will beat Middlesex meaning the top 4 will go down to NRR for the 2 home games. I won't be going to Durham if we do come 4th, however it could well be Worcs who win the North and so coming 4th wouldn't be so bad at all. Easier for me
to get to than Bristol in fact. Never been to Old Trafford or Headingly so would go there, however not sure I want to go all the way up to Durham for a night fixture. Its also
my last weekend and do have a friend visiting so its not going to be easy if the game is on Saturday either. I think last year we had an idea what the 4 games were
going to be, but we had to wait 24 hours (or a short time anyway) for confirmation of fixture dates, due to problems such as no floodlights at Worcester, and Ground problems at Old Trafford.
Its all so random, so at the end of play we will know who plays who, but we won't know which date. (I think) Also do Sky want to do the two Northern games together and the two Southern games after or before, would make sense but who knows. They might use 2 crews and have one based North and one South so alternate is best
Edit
Rashid Khan recalled by Afghanistan and will miss final game tonight.........that is tight as hell!

Durham CCC website confirms that top of North group plays at home to 4th in South Group. Their quarter final tickets go on sale today at midday but they admit the opposition and date/time of the match will obviously not be known until "after todays games" (tomorrow).
