Well not anyone who had to do their transfers last night as he hadn't been added to the game! I actually quite like the random and variable addition of players to TFC as and when they happen to get round to vaguely following what is happening in cricket. It is one of the more endearing aspects of the game.roverinexile wrote:So, go on then, who put Viljoen in for McKay?RightWing wrote:Kent
South African quick Gerhardus Viljoen is in line for his Kent debut. He took 5 wickets in his last game for the Lions. Signed for Kents remaining games.

Great debut knock for Chad Barrett at no. 10 for the team of the moment. Not sure why is was playing, thought he was just a coach.
Either way, bargain buckets all round in the Worcester Travelodge South Africa room tonight.

For anyone using ooozzzie's excellent fixture list, be aware the one day cup semi finals are on the wrong days - according to the BBC site anyway....

Great work, One Day. Thanks, you're a star.
How disappointing about Coverton. I really hope that doesn't cause you any major problems. Perhaps you should drop him?
Here's that Somerset squad you were struggling to paste:
Somerset’s full squad is- Marcus Trescothick, Tom Abell, Chris Rogers (c), James Hildreth, Johann Myburgh, Jim Allenby, Peter Trego, Lewis Gregory, Roelof van der Merwe, Dom Bess, Ryan Davies (wk), Tim Groenewald, Jack Leach, Josh Davey

Re: New Cricket Chit Chat to end of season with new rules
You (mostly) beat me to it, roverinexile.
I can fight back, though, with this possibly key news about England players' availability, not all of which completely makes sense to me:
Chris Woakes and Jason Roy have been confirmed as available for the final of the Royal London One-Day Cup between Warwickshire and Surrey at Lord’s on Saturday September 17. Roy is also in England’s squad for the NatWest IT20 against Pakistan at Emirates Old Trafford on Wednesday, but England have asked Warwickshire to rest Woakes from their last fixture of the season in the Specsavers County Championship, against Lancashire at Edgbaston, after his busy international summer.
England have also advised Yorkshire that Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow should take a break after Wednesday’s IT20, meaning they will not be available for the Specsavers County Championship matches against Somerset and Middlesex.
A decision on the availability of David Willey, Adil Rashid and Liam Plunkett will be made after Wednesday’s last international of the summer – as with Ben Stokes and Mark Wood for Durham, Alex Hales for Nottinghamshire, Chris Jordan for Sussex, Jos Buttler for Lancashire, Moeen Ali for Worcestershire, Sam Billings for Kent and Roy for Surrey’s last Championship game at Durham.
James Vince and Liam Dawson are both available to Hampshire for their last two Championship matches of the season, against Surrey this week and Durham in the last round of fixtures.

Well they get the win but not convinced by the cynical 2.5 day pitches they've been producing to suit their needs. Hopefully Yorkshire or Middlesex win the title.Ducks Deluxe wrote:What on earth has happened to Somerset this morning? Coming on top of Rogers' ( almost) resignation comments recently..... Re: New Cricket Chit Chat to end of season with new rules
It's that time of season where players seem to disappear with no warning and transfers are in short supply. Having been on the road this morning with no time to make changes, I got online to find no Wagg, Rushworth, Patterson. Did I miss anyone?

Re: New Cricket Chit Chat to end of season with new rules
Hi all, I haven't posted yet this season due to other commitments, but looks like I have missed out on an incident-filled TFC forum this year
To my surprise I have finally managed to win the MotW prize after countless years and attempts of trying. Thought I had blown it again today with Westley and Sangakarra quacking and not having Sanderson, but the other 8 did enough. It was close and low scoring compared to other weeks. Just realised you are allowed to win the weekly prize twice so will use my 2 remaining credits to try again next week.
Hope you have all had good seasons.
Cheers Graham

Good work Graham
Yes the TFC forum was infested for a while and has put some of us off I think.
Agression on social media is not cool and just not cricket

Re: New Cricket Chit Chat to end of season with new rules
Hopefully all of the regrettable agro will be forgotten by the start of next season.jimwinn wrote:Good work Graham
Yes the TFC forum was infested for a while and has put some of us off I think.
Aggression on social media is not cool and just not cricket
Glad to see that Nicky Johns is going to lose out to Mr King in the private league!!

Seems to be a tale of a King and two jesters this time.Jester wrote:sichonsteve wrote:

Heading into the final five days and the while the written performance of this forum has been more Derbyshire than Middlesex, the opposite is true of the overall Private League and an insurmountable lead has been built.
For the overall win, it's impossible to see the winner coming from outside the Top 3 of Billington, Holmes and Taylor. As a fellow FISOer and all-round consistent performer, I'll be cheering on Mr. Taylor but it will be tough to catch the only player to have surpassed 25,000 points.
Then there's a cluster of teams battling for the equivalent of the Champions and Europa league spots - with less prize money at stake of course. It looks like at least five teams will be battling it out for the 4th and 5th place. Good to see eight different players managing the top eight teams as well.
The elite leagues are about as interesting as Chris Tavare innings (should we say Will Tavare now?) or a George Graham led Arsenal win, with Johns, Clark and Percik, in no particular order, taking up most of the spots. Not much to see here.
Anything I'm missing? Super20s, Century League successes, final weekly attempts?
And how about the real cricket? An impressive win for Somerset at Headingley and you can guarantee a result at Taunton this week. So, can Middlesex and Yorkshire beat one another to force the win or will Notts do them a surprise favour so they don't have to?
Royal London cup finishes today and will certainly have TFC ramifications even if it is a slightly odd mid September, 'are we still playing cricket?' type affair. Two good sides so should be a good game.
All this needs to be decided so we can start planning which City cricket team we're going to be supporting from 2018

Thanks for the support Futabudgi. I suspect the top spot is beyond my team now. Everyone will probably have similar players.
Hoping to hang on to 3rd and maybe sneek 2nd.
Best of luck to all those FISO'ers who have a chance of an overall or Elite league win/place prize.

You're probably right Darren and you may know more than me by studying points and noticing there's not been much difference between yours and the top two. I might be trying to make a dramatic finish where there isn't one but I still think there's a chance.mincer wrote:Thanks for the support Futabudgi. I suspect the top spot is beyond my team now. I'm pretty sure I was a couple of hundred points back going into the final fixture last year and ended up a few hundred in front. I reckon there's more differentials this year and at this stage, probably the only dead certs across all contenders are Bopara, Patel and Bresnan.
The most likely outcome is your positions stay the same, he could finish 800 ahead or you could close the gap on both teams above. Maybe you have a Lyth where he has Jennings or he has Duckett and you have A.N Other, or Brooks instead of Coles. It just takes a lucky combo of failing players and a brave captain choice (if that option is available) and the few hundred point lead disintegrates quicker than Glamorgan's top order would on a turner at Taunton.

New Cricket Chit Chat to end of season with new rules
Concerning developments at YCCC.
Adil Rashid wants to rest rather than help his team win a hat-trick of titles. Must be a good chance he'll be at another county next season.
The real concern though is Andrew Strauss getting involved in the decision to stop (non centrally contracted) Jonny Bairstow playing in the game.
Something stinks especially as Finn WILL be playing for Middlesex.
Shouldn't be too surprised though because he has form for showing a lack of integrity.

Surprised they didn't call up Leach and block him as well!

Taylor knows my team and login details so not to much investigation is required!futabudgi wrote:You're probably right Darren and you may know more than me by studying points and noticing there's not been much difference between yours and the top two.
