Indeed it was most kind of Nabby to put a consoling virtual arm around me. My posts were therapeutic and a stress reliever, still annoyed today!

Interesting that Rashid is in Yorkshire squad as didn't think we were allowed Hales and Taylor, must check.

I know Broad is available.

Despite everything I'm still riding reasonably high in the runs league and, although almost certainly too far adrift, will throw the kitchen sink at it. I have enough transfers left to mean that in theory I can have a full complement of batsmen, wicket keeper and all-rounder for every remaining round of games.

I have three batsmen and my wicketkeeper to rotate out this week.

Obviously Notts and Yorks are potentially the plum picks with one or two extra 50 over games. But I do worry about players being rested at both counties.

Hamps and Somer are involved at the foot of the table, so Hildreth and, say, Vince, may be safer picks. I won't be replacing Steve Davies until after Monday's game anyway, so if Notts go out one of these will come in anyway.

In my position I think I have to gamble on Yorks players not being rested. I already have Lees, who would you bring in. I was thinking Ballance. Would you bring in Lyth or Leaning as well or Wessells for Monday?

Obviously changes will be made after tomorrow's line ups are known.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

ps... just seen the stokes dismissal. australia should hang its head in shame. a total disgrace. on a par of bloody-minded cheating that reminds me of t chapple bowling underarm against i smith.

... i know you've lost the ashes 'cobbers' ... but do you really need to sink this low?

Yorkshire is a difficult one. They rested Leaning for the last game. I suspect Ballance or Lyth may be the best bets as they are trying to get back into favour with the England selectors.

The Klingertron 2000 has scored 3 tons in this seasons 1 day cup, almost single-handedly getting Glos to the final...no disrespect to Peter Handsome but who would you rather see in the team if you were an Aussie. I guess they are looking to the future etc but if the aim is to win the series then you're better off picking the best team imo.

And why did Yorks go into a semi final with such a weakened attack. No Rashid or Plunkett due to England duty..that's fair enough, but Brooks and Sidebottom  Surely Sidey could have managed 10 overs as an exception? Yorks have as good as one Div 1 this year so I would have made this semi their priority over the forthcoming 4 day game. All very bemusing :?

totally agree.

there is this cricket-management-mantra that goes on and on about how 'you must pick a team with an eye to the future' ....

what on earth is wrong with trying to win the game you are playing rt now? why are series 2/3/4 years away more important than what's happening today? imo, the best way of preparing for a successful future is to set up a winning mentality in the here&now. that way, when new players come in, they join a strong team not one dolly-daydreaming about things way over yonder horizon that have not yet come to pass.

it's like when yoda is talking to buddha in the return of the jedi.

' be mindful of the past and be aware of the future.... but above all live in the here and now.'

as sage words as i have ever heard...... especially from someone less than 4ft tall.

Which is just awesome, as i brought him in as my final hurrah in the wickets league team (currently 16th) about 10mins before reading that he's injured.

Thanks for the team info, lads! :)

I was soooooo hacked off with my Super 8 'blind' loss by 17 pts last week that I decided I needed to 'get back on the horse' straight away with a weekly....having already turned off the computer etc......

I had a pretty good 1st day and, like Jim, a howler of a 2nd day.......lots of players getting me minus points ...or mere crumbs from the table....I am mid teens for the week and no chance of contending........

Given my Ansari , sari tales of late..........I just had to have him in as cpn.........give me strength!!!!

Not sure whether to crack on with the weekly or save for the last week or even next.....I'll see in the morning! :?

Good luck, all.....

Well, well! :( Decided to 'go for it' with running for the weekly on the morning the damned computer decided to play silly b#####s with me!

Real problems in getting final 11s up.....and the toss in the Mid/Yorks game! Total last minute panic meant that(in that game alone) I picked Harris rather than Sidebottom!!

I had to press the transfer button in a panic and watched the damned 'spinning wheel!' Think went through with a minute to spare but not sure.....

I need Hamps to bat well..except for Carbs....and for the Overtons and Trego to get any wickets that fall!

This isn't going to end well!! :?

DD.

S'bottom has got his 4th.......would have been my cpn..........week over! :(

and while i'm on the sujet... any1 else noticed how the undergrads at the marketing dept of telegraph-towers are profiling all us fantasy sports types?

what's on offer for us at the tele-shop this week?? :D

yeeeeeeees!! :D a bloody gramaphone* that plays 78s. :x

it's just soooooo freakin' insulting. how old do they think we are?? 500?? :x

.... and to stick the knife in... guess what vinyl lp is in the advert pic?? ....

bob dylan's greatest hits. BOB DYLAN'S GREATEST HITS. ...4 freak's sake.

i detest bob dylan. i hate his whining moany voice and stupid, simplistic lyrics. bloody hippies. .... can't stand them.

they must think that all fantasy types have pony-tails and go to 'festivals'.... VOMIT!!

rant over.

Great message, as always, 'Nana! I thought that I was the only saddo left this week! :)

I have to admit, although I have never been a hippy...gulp,....I loooove Dylan! I met him once...it was....ehh....interesting! :? I'll maybe tell you the story sometime over a pint!

Re the advert......I know what you mean ...but music , and collecting, is a major obsession of mine.....I have been collecting since you were a mere seedling! I actually have a 78 which I bought in the USA about 20 years ago......BB King...he subsequently signed it for me over here....probably worth a bob or two now that he has gone to the great gig in the sky! :(

I have noticed this past week, a strange ...ever changing....advert inserted as if it were my latest e-mail! It is for things like funereral expences, stair lifts etc!!

How I miss the early days of e-mails when I was bombarded by offers of viagra....p###s extensions etc.......This was then superseded by stuff from all the young, single women who were very keen to meet me....and now bloody stair lifts! Tempus Fugit and all that......but! :(

Back to the cricket......what are Glammy up to?....Mind you, I have affection for both The G Men and Kent.........

Remarkable game at Taunton..For the hell of it, I stuffed my failed weekly team with players for this game...... :)

I really wish that MV had been on air to comment on Hale's latest effort to 'express himself without fear!' Ho, ho ho! Now England...get the finger out and win this damned game! :)

Best to all, DD.

wow!! :D that is something to truly cherish.

...from the sublime to the........................

.... ridiculous... yes ... the ghastly michael vaughan... :(

my idea of hell would be to stick him on a desert island talking about crickit while bob dylan played acoustic guitar and the camp fire sizzled with bbq'd brown rice.... maybe we could add that horrid, catty geoffrey blockhead to the ensemble as well. .... just to add the purr into purrgatory.

Surely Alex Fales is drinking in the last chance saloon.

On to the main question...who is going to win the coveted TFC title this year...only thing I know for sure is it will defo not be me :( probably my worst season in a long while with some seriously bad decisions at pretty much every turn. Still 2 weeklys means I won more than I lost :)

Good luck to young fatbudgi who seems to have the best chance from fiso perspective. Mincer having his usual strong season but will need a strong finish if he is to catch the leader.
Good luck to all in with a chance.

Thanks Nabby! That username started a number of years ago - still not sure where it came from or what it means?! I guess it's a brand now so I'll need to keep it.

I'm used to plummeting out of the Top 100 at this stage so this is an alien experience for me. Only nine days of cricket to go and some potential for weather interruption so it looks like the winner will be coming from the current Top 7.

Good luck from me too, Futabudgi!.....Brill name, shame you can't recall it's source...we all have these days...or years! :)

To give you all a laugh.......to cheer myself up....and looking at the awful post season vacuum, I decided to enter a 'weekly!' I was aware that the weather looks very poor for next week and a good Sat might be very useful.....Turns out I wasn't the only one..even so late in the season!

I thought I had a pretty good day....mid 400s......I am in the mid 30s and already about 200 off the pace.......... I had a poor week last week in the weekly but was much better than this......dohhhhhhh......

Strange how Sky are not showing Lancs v Surrey when the cameras were there yesterday for the ODI. Bumble did have a little dig, "great game here tomorrow top of the table clash greeeat game! and on Sky Sports 2 you can watch the champions Yorkshire live against struggling Hampshire"

Does anyone know what the exact cut-off time for transfers is, to the second? Is it 10:29 and 59 seconds or is it 10:30 and 59 seconds or somewhere in between. I made a change this morning at 10:30, but definitely a fair few seconds after my computer's clock had switched to 10:30. It is marked as having happened at 10:30 in my Transfer History.
