Games for World Cup 2014

Post by quizking »

Some links for games not covered in "regular" fiso forums (could a mod move this as needs be);

Fantasy i-team, prize £5k holiday;

http://www.fantasyiteam.com/worldcup.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...An app, only works for some phones, not on computer. NOTE - although advertised as a free game, extra transfers can be bought - the winners of last few seasons in the regular EPL game have of course bought the maximum number of transfers possible.

Ultimate world cup fantasy league;

http://fantasy.udt.co.za/worldcup/restr ... ashboard.j" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...South african based game, prizes yet to be announced, and might not be available outside south africa, but ultimate have well run games, some have featured on fiso before.

Silentmanager (now chroma) games;

http://www.threadneedlefantasyfootball.com/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://www.excelfantasyfootball.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...both trade only so check t and c's, more silentmanager games to come no doubt, might not appeal to everyone, for various reasons.

Eurofantasyleague;

http://eurofantasyleague.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...advertised as launching may 29th - don't know much about this, but they have only had small prizes previously.

Football Fanager;

https://footballfanager.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...£10k first prize, supposedly. NOTE - advertised prize for last season's game was trip to world cup, but small print indicates that they did not have the required number of participants, so would not have paid this out. Awaiting launch of world cup game to see if similar caveat holds. ALSO NOTE - as with the fantasy i-team game above, advertised as a free game, but you were required to spend on credits for transfers if playing to win rather than just for fun. Again, awaiting details for world cup game to see if this still applies.

Any more info, news on other games as they launch, comments from suppliers of above games, come on down.

Cheers - in the meanwhile, a couple of the more "eccentric" games -

http://twatball.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

http://fantasyworldcup.fanxt.com/en/index.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

...the latter is based in asia, and has prizes "coming soon" apparently - but also allows you to "invite facebook friends and earn extra budget", which is just asking for trouble and shouldn't be encouraged, any more than having to pay for extra transfers.

Better news from elsewhere - daily mirror mail-out today for their end of season round-up, mentioning a world cup game coming soon (no other details as yet).

A note of caution with FanXT - played this last time out but rather than paying out on prizes they just refunded the entry fees. I presume they will do exactly the same this time unless miracles happen and they make more cash than the sum total of the prizes (when announced) on offer.

SilentManager has recently 'merged' (been taken over by!) another company - this will hopefully lead to better customer service but could also mean they tighten up on enforcing the eligibility criteria. Hopefully some 'entry open to all' games will arrive from them shortly.

Hello - having had many chats with sm before, eligibility re prizes has always depended on the client wanting to enforce rules (or otherwise). Lack of prizes has also been due to companies going under - which silentmanger, (now chroma) always insisted wasn't their problem. Not the only games provider with this issue over the years - the name fantastar might ring a bell for example (though they are still operating).

Other news (also with a link on the relevant forum) -

Can anyone see in the T&Cs on the SM Games where it says who you need to belong to / work for / member of?

Looking through them and I can't see it anywhere.

Yes, it's usually on the terms page, 5.2 (eg on the excel one - "you must be an excel customer etc etc), 5.16 for threadneedle, or 5.19/5.20. Also, on the register page, you might be asked for name of your company, account number etc. Different for every game - each supplier seems to have different ideas on how strict they want to be.

It seems that each of SM games has a restriction for prizes eligibility for customers of the company. Do you know if they have something for 'everyone'?

I did email SM to ask if they had a game anyone could play but they refused to confirm or deny. No sign of anything but they often launch late and don't tell anyone so you just have to keep an eye out.

There's another one here but for Australians only

http://wcsb.silentmanager.org/default.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also the Football fanager game in the first post has now launched. At first glance it looks decent.

Stunned that there's hardly any 'entry open to all' games about this WC. Looks like we're confined to taking on the multi entrants in The Sun, Tele & Mirror!

I'm sure there was a Sky Sports game for the 2010 World Cup. Very surprised they've not done one for this one.

Just do lucky dips - the prizes seem to be random draws and not based on any skill, unless I'm missing something?

I'd say save your efforts for other comps but with 4 days to go I'm having trouble tracking any down! :-(

Good old Red Spotted Hanky are running a game!

http://fantasyfootball.games-redspotted ... fault.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Whilst it is a SM comp, I can vouch for the prize providers - nice comms & quick turnaround of prizes - I've even switched from TheTrainline to these guys to buy train tickets as a result!

Gives us just over 48 hours to pull together a half decent team by my reckoning! 8-)

Thanks for that, it wouldn't be an international tournament without an SM game :lol:

I've added a couple to the mini-league, I assume they only show after the next update.

I won't bother posting on here every time I add someone, but if you find you're waiting for ages just give me a nudge.

Hi all, first time poster.

I'm playing a couple of the SM games and have had a decent start but I'm worried I've misinterpreted the rules regarding today's captain deadline. I now think today's was before the Ivory Coast v Japan because another player scored captain points for Cuadrado AND Honda?!

Anyone have any ideas?

Will stick a team in the fiso league AV if thats cool.

I hadn't thought about it but that game probably did count as today as it was after midnight so I'd assume today's captain would have had to be in place before the Ivory Coast match.

Bad idea to do it from midnight rather than just a common sense 'match day' basis but I expect that's what they have done.

Yeah, will add you to the mini-league.

It seems. That they have counted deadline with japan matches, but in the game eluse the example they did is different and most important in the matches center section japan matches is listed on 14th of June. So what they did is not correct, i Will written Then tomorrow

Their 'Matches' page definitely shows the kick off date for the IVC v JAP match as 14/06/2014 - I appreciate they are referring to 'Brazilian' time, but it is them who stated June 14th so in my opinion (and again according to their Matches page) the first match on the 15th was the Ecuador v Switzerland game - I actually thought they and been sensible for once and used these timings to avoid any confusion. :roll:

I plan to just wait and see if Messi gets me double points tonight in the RedSpottedHanky game then contact them if he doesn't. In my opinion we would have valid grounds for complaints and hopefully they would recognise that and see the error of their ways.

Either way, let's just wait and see (that said I haven't been able to spot anyone who has picked up double points for Japanese players)

- - -

EDIT: Just changed my captain from Messi and back again and it states that he was brought in as captain at 15/06/2014 18:34:00 - it currently is 22.34.00 UK time. If the same logic is applied then the site should have recognised that the IVC v JAP game kicked off at 22.00.00 on the 14th and therefore the captain deadline for the 15th should stand as the SWI v ECU game.
