Re: La Log - 08/09 - Phase 2 - Premiership
The promoted teams (Takeshi and Gazwood) are still leading the way.
Although Takeshi's 100% record has now fallen. Gaz's mucker and sparring partner Ton, doing him a favour.
Reigning champ Arsenal has now strung together 3 straight wins and manages to capitalise on everyone elses inconsistencies... he's up to 3rd.
Schlock is unable to follow up last week's win and is back to losing ways (and still rooted to the foot of the table). With the top 2 his next 2 opponents... he could be relegated with 2 fixtures remaining.
Week 5
Crompton 24 - 28 Gazwood
Zita 30 - 35 The Doc
Mrs Bell 18 - 49 Arsenal4Ever
The Ton 50 - 43 Takeshi Kovacs
Zimmerman 40 - 31 Schlock
Week 6
Gazwood - Schlock
Takeshi Kovacs - Zimmerman
Arsenal4Ever - The Ton
The Doc - Mrs Bell

Re: La Log - 08/09 - Phase 2 - Premiership
With only one defeat in his last 11 matches Gazwood has one hand on the title.
Next week he's up against 2nd placed Takeshi and could well confirm himself as champion.
Takeshi hangs on to Gaz's coat tails thanks to a rudimentary win against the Prem's whipping boy.
A defeat for Takeshi against Gaz would open the door for 4 chasing teams to move into the runners-up spot.
Despite a dismal performance from the hairy ape... avoiding relegation is still possible.
He plays The Doc in week 9. Before then, he must defeat Uefa chasing Arsenal.
Week 7
Zita 14 - 23 Gazwood
Mrs Bell 28 - 42 Crompton
The Ton 27 - 24 The Doc
Zimmerman 22 - 18 Arsenal4Ever
Schlock 16 - 27 Takeshi Kovacs

Re: La Log - 08/09 - Phase 2 - Premiership
Here are the line-ups (effectively 5-a-side), excluding duplicated players with Gazwood's players showing first:
Myhill v Kirkland
Agger v Curtis Davies
Lescott v Turner
Baines v Neville
Ashley Young v Gerrard
After Saturday's games, things should be looking pretty close (estimates pre-Sun 7+ratings):
Myhill (-1) v Kirkland (n/a)
Agger (0) v Curtis Davies (13)
Lescott (5) v Turner (-1)
Baines (5) v Neville (n/a)
Ashley Young (0) v Gerrard (2)
Potentially Kirkland (if fit) and Neville (if selected) for me today, but who knows what the Sun will give in its Starman / 7+ ratings tomorrow). Curtis Davies keeping me afloat!
After Sunday's games, I'd estimate:
Myhill (-1) v Kirkland (8)
Agger (0) v Curtis Davies (16)
Lescott (8) v Turner (2)
Baines (8) v Neville (8)
Ashley Young (3) v Gerrard (2)
Gazwood 18 v 36 Takeshi
Could it be?!?

Re: La Log - 08/09 - Phase 2 - Premiership
In the top of the table clash, Takeshi held his nerve and wracked up the weekend's highest score (albeit a mere 35). In doing so, he caught Gaz on points and took over him with points difference.
The title race has been blown wide open with any one of 5 teams capable of lifting the title. 4 of those 5 go head to head next week;
Zimmerman v Crompton and Takeshi v Arsenal. Gazwood faces a tough tie against Mrs Bell.
The action isnt restricted to the top of the table. Its just as hotly contested at the bottom.
Any 2 of 3 teams will be relegated.
Bottom placed Schlock needs to beat The Doc (3rd bottom) by a margin of 9 or more AND Zita to lose to have any hope of survival.
Zita has to win and hope his winning margin is more than The Doc (if the doc wins).
Its all very confusing, just take my word for it, Zita, Sclock and the Doc could all go down or all stay up.
Week 8
Gazwood 18 - 35 Takeshi Kovacs
Arsenal4Ever 15 - 9 Schlock
The Doc 3 - 28 Zimmerman
Crompton 20 - 17 The Ton
Zita 13 - 24 Mrs Bell
Week 9
Mrs Bell - Gazwood
The Ton - Zita
Zimmerman - Crompton
Schlock - The Doc
Takeshi Kovacs - Arsenal4Ever

Re: La Log - 08/09 - Phase 2 - Premiership
Talk about bottling it... 2 weeks ago Gazwood was top of the table and three points clear. He finishes the season in 3rd. A gallant effort for his first season in the top flight though.
Fellow promotee, Takeshi Kovacs showed no sign of nerves on the big stage. Never out of the top 2 for the whole season. Fitting that he lifted the title at the home of the reigning champion (Arsenal4Ever).
In a tight finish, Zimmerman came through on the rails and manages to sneak into 2nd thanks to a crushing victory over Crompton. Only 3 points separated 2nd and 7th.
Dropping out of the division to make room for SDHough and Dr Bell are Schlock and Zita. Both turn in poor performances and drop out of the division without so much as a whimper (much to The Doc's relief).
Week 9
Mrs Bell 19 - 18 Gazwood
The Ton 32 - 27 Zita
Zimmerman 54 - 32 Crompton
Schlock 15 - 36 The Doc
Takeshi Kovacs 38 - 20 Arsenal4Ever
Next season kicks off on 21st Feb. I'll be asking for transfers some time after the real window closes.
