Tiers of fantasy football managers

Post by mad dog »

Someone brought an old thread to my attention today. 12 years old thread in fact so I’ve updated it for 2018.

Where do you fit in?
—————————————-
The way I see it there are about 6 tiers of Fantasy Football managers. To go up from one tier to the next all you have to do is win prizes in fantasy football, there is no elitism involved, its just facts.

Top tier those who have won over £50k with multiple wins (at least 2 to prove it was no fluke). Mainly a major game win and a top 3 finish.

2nd tier those who have won between 10k to 50k in multiple wins and those who have had one big win ( a one off )

3rd tier those who have won between 2k to 10k and have won more than one fantasy prize, maybe multiple monthly or weekly winners, or could have won other prizes such as MacBooks, games consoles, match tickets

4th tier Those who have managed one prize (not a mini league, unless it was a winning mini league or at least £100) at least, maybe a weekly, a monthly or whatever, if you have won something but not over £2k you are in this list.

5th tier Still good players but have only won their mini leagues so far, and finished in a fairly high position a few times, normally will finish in the top 10% of a competition.

6th tier Those who win nothing and don't finish in the top 10%. Mainly fpl players I’d guess. Might finish top 40k in fpl once and open a twitter account dedicated to it with an animal in the handle. Or might have “won” a weekly/monthly in a game no ones heard of. Oh la la or something. Daily games don’t count.

Where do you fit in ?

Somewhere between 3rd and 4th. Multiple wins but not sure they tally over 2k (a 1k, 2*250 and some 50s I think).

Most a while ago though....

(Only counting winnings from Telegraph themselves (TFF). Best ever full-season was in TFFO when I was 4th highest scoring manager.... and they paid out top 3. Had a few wins in FISO leagues that have easily paid for themselves eg a runners up prize in £25 league back when the pool was bigger)

Solid tier 2. Around 30k prizes.

Big prize proving elusive... On this season's showing - impossible

3rd Tier.

All prize money has been from TFF.

A few minor prizes in the seasonal for public league wins and a top 20 finish. Two monthly wins and a runner up. One weekly win and also won a few quid on the Weekender game they ran a few seasons ago.

Probably a 2.5 (maybe a 3)

Have won quite a lot of money over the years (not so much recently) but only in the one game.

What? You don’t think you’ve won over £10k? We picked up £6k each for that dodgy mini league?

Comfortable 2nd tier for me. Need a big win to confidently stride into top tier.

Can’t put a value on World Cup 98 tickets quarter final (Bergkamp wonder goal in Marseille), semi final (seeing the fat Ronaldo when he was electric) and then watching Emanuel Petit come through like a train to wrap up the trophy on home soil.

Very similar to murf in that I'm somewhere between 3rd and 4th tier and all winnings coming from TFF. Having said that this season could be my worst ever and may end up with no winnings at all.

Pretty definite no official TFF winnings this year for me. Am 12th in VIP Chairmen's league, 30-odd pts off the cash with plenty of decent managers also looking at the cash so chances are minimal.

Might get top 3 with that team in FISO £25 league though which would put me in slight profit for the year.

Historically Tier 2 and not too far short of Tier 1, recent years Tier 7, enter teams, go through the motions on and off for a few weeks, drop most of it during October, 'next year I'll make a bigger effort' knowing full well that I won't.

Each week, the world’s Fantasy Football experts come up with their rankings for each position. People rely on these rankings, but rankings don’t really tell you how much better a player is than another player.

Approx 90k over 12 years. If I double that by winning world cup dreamteam I expect you to create another tier just for me Dan. God tier

2nd tier. Won £16,500 in two years in 3 different comps, all in The sun DT. Started branching out to telegraph in 2016 and finished just outside the top 1000 this season so hoping my third season can challenge for top 100. Have finished in the top 100 overall in the sun 4 times now I think 🤔in last 6 years including this year too. Hoping for a good World Cup 🙏
