Anyone else not even looked at Player lists yet?
Hi all,
I am trying somethng different this season. With countless games now launched, I have spent the last week formulating spreadsheets.
I have spent an age on fixture lists relevant to individual games, looked at past data, and have simplified the rules and scoring systems for each and every game .
I am now happy with the differences between games and can therefore tailor teams/squads accordingly, to make the most of the subtle scoring structures.
Here's the crux, I have not yet even tried to build a team in any game. With so many transfers still to come to fruition I firstly can't see the point at this stage, and secondly don't want to lay in bed at night working out where I can gain that extra .1 million to accommodate a player just out of reach
Does anybody else use this approach or are you all straight into the RMT mind set?
There is a month to the start of the season and I can do without the endless pondering.
Am I mad, or is it a cunning plan?

I do much the same. No real team selection until the week before the Charity Shield when I like to have at least half a dozen teams sorted. (Whereupon they are all promply altered based on one outstanding/dodgy performance )
From now until then I'll spend time making sure that my spreadsheets import data correctly and add up the number correctly.
Then it's a case of import the new list of players, let the sheet select the pool of 50 players, whittle it down manually to a manageable number and then feed it into the random team generator. Then I'll settle on the teams which don't look too silly.
I wish I played in more game formats but I just stick to the Sun DreamTeam at the moment. Tried Telegraph last season but hated having to change players every week just to stand still - guess I'm a little lazy. May fish around for another lowish maintenance game if one exists.

I only do TFF but usually ignore player lists but end up looking at RMTs just to laugh at the idiot gun jumpers (honest) before getting sucked in and picking one 'just to get a feel for the budget'. I then find it hard to move away from that and so my August team is straight jacketed by July thoughts.

You can always play TFF with the original selection game in mind, ie your points and prize are awarded based on your starting lineup.
That way you don't have to make any transfers, given you get one free team with TFF, you could use that free team for the original starting lineup game.

Thanks Achiles, I'll take a look at that option. Free sounds goodAchiles74 wrote:You can always play TFF with the original selection game in mind, ie your points and prize are awarded based on your starting lineup.

Re: Anyone else not even looked at Player lists yet?
I like to do as much general ground work as possible early on. I study the player lists for anomalies and value priced players. I don't pick teams but I do make a list of players I want in my final player pool. By early august I start assembling possible teams on a spreadsheet. These are then refined every day until kick off.

I always await the player list with great anticipation. When it finally arrives I have a quick scan....and then totally ignore the whole thing until the night before the season starts

Are you being serious with the random player generator? I too have my pool of players (around 23) but i'm not sure how to make the 30-40 teams from them which I will then enter into the SDT.jeffmcgow wrote:I do much the same.
