Re: Pre-season previews: newspapers, magazines
Anyone have an idea when the World cup guide will be in the Racing Post?
Or will there be one this year? I notice they have brought out a magazine this time. £9.99, came out Tuesday. Although you can get it cheaper if you look around.

Ordered mine last night from Amazon. A lot cheaper!
Not seen anything re: supplement.
As for magazines, the world soccer one was ok, didn't think much of the 442 one this time.

Re: Pre-season previews: newspapers, magazines
Only read the first few articles but the RP guide looks as good as ever.
It's worth buying for Craig Brown's opinions alone. He reckons Nigeria will make a big impression, Steven Gerrard will be the star of the tournament and Daniel Sturridge will be top scorer.

The RP supplement, the World Cup Betting Guide is at least as useful as the RP World Cup Guide and is therefore far better value.
Anyone failing to buy a Post this morning can always get a copy direct on-line, although I always use their very helpful customer sales telephone service. Delivery within 2 days max based on my experience, sometimes next day. But seeing how skinflint some fisoers seem to be, I should point out that it's slightly more expensive if bought separately.

Yes must agree Striker. Haven't really looked at the more expensive version since I got hold of the supplement.
Quality pull-out as usual.

Essential reading for lazy so and so's like myself who can't be bothered to do any research for themselves. It's a one stop shop for all those who are happy with basic info.SamD wrote:The Big Kick-Off for 2014-15 will be published with the Racing Post on Tuesday 5 August.

But I'm not sure that it'll be of much use to fantasy football nerds who tend to play FPL if fiso posts properly reflect fantasy managers' characteristics. Esoteric glory hunters in contrast to other more pragmatic managers.

What were their hidden gems and predictions, were they the reason you finished 3rd or....
Personally i never saw their pull out and never rated Holland to progress.

Re: Pre-season previews: newspapers, magazines
It wasn't anything specific, and I never read more than odd paragraphs at a time. But the paper was lying on my desk throughout the tournament and if I wanted to know anything it was always to hand. For example if one wanted to know the relative likelihood of a midfielder from a minor team scoring, having the bookies top goalscoring odds for that team on the same page as the international histories of squad members meant that you could get a good idea of who to pick in a matter of seconds. A few days into the tournament I knew the page numbers of Chile (34) and Columbia (39) off by heart.sleuth wrote:As u finished in the money, HOW USEFUL AND WHAT POINTERS, did the Racing Post pull out provide.Striker wrote:The RP supplement, the World Cup Betting Guide is at least as useful as the RP World Cup Guide and is therefore far better value.

Pre-season
Racing Post Big Kick-Off guide today is extensive and thought-provoking, as usual.
Other articles may be located online by searching for terms like football season preview 2015 over last week.
The Guardian, Independent and Sky Sports seem to be the best of these.

Bought the post for their extortionate price. Pullout not all that in all honesty.
Better info on a lot of threads on here.
Preferred the freebies from the Sun last Sunday in all honesty.
Guess, I better start thinking about some teams now.
