Will Man City shred WBA?

Post by reggie_mcfly »

A selection dilemma.

So here is my team for the coming GW.
* denotes playing twice.

Carroll *

Neville *
Yobo *
O'Shea *
Hyypia
Repka *

Lampard
Benayoun *
Scholes (c) *

Henry
Cole

My dilemma:

I have Vassell sat on the bench, and I am tempted to bring him in - Man City seem to be in the groove, and I fancy them to score goals at WBA. But who to replace? Which of these looks better?

Vassell v WBA (a)
Yobo v MU (a), WH (h)
Repka v BR (a), EV (a)

Am I mad to consider removing someone playing twice? Should any of the other players make way?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Drop O'Shea and play Vassell

Thanks for that, Jonathan. I hadn't thought of doing that. Do you think he is unlikely to play a full part in both matches? I suppose there are niggling injury worries and Richardson/Brown to contend with.

Hi reggie,

Just notice these are your first postings so welcome.

There is talk on other threads (check them out) about John OShaky as he is being called. He could be dropped, he could be injured, he could play so I think given your choice (providing you haven't transferred him in specifically for the two games) I would play Vassell instead.

Just my opinions though!

Actually, I posted a bit at the start of the season - then moved houses so was off the internet for a while. But thanks for the welcome anyway. I am in the FISO league - been floating around the 30th mark since the start. Currently in 21st (Batman and Robben).

Have just read the thread on O'Shakey. Pretty useful. Still don't know whether he is worth risking in the coming GW... :?

Oops. Change that. Into 18th now.

God bless Cole and Vassell.

I think I should be asking you for help then! I can only dream of 18th - Queens Perky Ripples currently 50th.

I have been noticing Batman and Robben as the name made me laugh when I first saw it :D

I'd probably play O'Shea because these games look on paper to be two of Uniteds easiest of the season and there is a possibility of 2 clean sheets for him, even if he only plays one then there's still a good chance of a CS and if he doesn't feature at all then Vassell would come in as your first sub. Having said that, he'd probably come on in the last minute vs wigan or something!

Depends how confident you are in Uniteds defence I guess and John O'Shakey is the right word! Its annoying that the Everton game is on Sunday so we can't wait for team news. We won't have the problem of United games getting moved cos of midweek Euro games any more!
Notice you've got Cole as well so you might be a bit dependant on City scoring goals, although if they play like last week that won't be a problem! Agree its a tough one, I can guarentee I'd make the wrong choice!

I was doing quite well in the FISO league, up to 8th at one point but normal service has resumed in recent weeks! :D Bout 30ish now

Thanks for the replies.

I also have MGP on the bench, and I am now thinking that he has a case for being included (WH at home).

What a headache.

I must be thinking about this too hard, because I have actually considered leaving a fit Thierry Henry on the bench

I suggest you go and lie down in a darkened room reggie....

I have Cole and may risk giving the captaincy to him.

Agreed!

The captaincy is just one more problem isn't it? Neville or Scholes for me. Can't decide.

Ooooooh so nearly! But I took the advice of two esteemed regulars in these forums and gave it to Scholes on Friday night! Phew!

You do realise, of course, that you've just condemned Scholes to a red card against Everton? :)

I wouldn't object to a Scholes red card, seeing as I only have Rooney and O'Shea in my team. Doubtless Tabloid Wayne will get his marching orders and O'Shea will be rested, or vice versa.

on the plus side, picking cole as captain would put you in a position to answer the big question - do negative points for your captain get doubled too ?!

You do indeed get double negative points for a captain so Cole would have been -2.

Jonathan, you ought to buy those two esteemed regulars a pint.

I know.. but I thought an even better way to thank them would be to give them some hot information regarding their team selections next chance I get! 8)
