More price changes than last season?
I took a break from FPL last season so missed the early price change weeks, but I wondered if people felt there have been more, fewer or about the same price drops/rises this season compared to last?
It's not unusual to loose value on players at this time in the season, but I've seen a few comments here and on Reddit about drops stopping moves so have there been more drops or perhaps more unexpected drops?
If so is that favouring an early wildcard and/or hits to be taken? Is it just because we've had the likes of Pukki catching the eye and people are jumping off (too quickly?) their premium defenders?

Re: More price changes than last season?
i was expecting price rises and falls sooner in the game I do remember a few seasons ago if a player was handed a Red Card their price dropped almost instantly, and an instant punishment for the managers that owned them. They do say the price changes are based on transfers made but i have often wondered if the lists are correct because I see players being transferred that have not yet started or are unlikely and moves for these players that I don' t understand.
6,401 have transferred in Wolves defender Kilman?
2,200 Skipp from Spurs -
2% of Managers own Alexandre Nascimento Costa Silva - why???????????

Seemed to be slow in GW1 but taking off in GW2. I've lost around 0.7 on potential season keepers by the end of this week. I dread to think what that translates to in points by GW38.

I’d imagine some (most, hopefully, for their sakes!) are merely enabling more expensive (and more logical) transfers. Doherty was ill on Monday and went off at HT - maybe some of that 6k didn’t realise he wasn’t injured, or that he was replaced by Traore, or perhaps they expect some rotation with Europa League, or they just don’t care or needed a 4m defender and already have the better options. Similar with Skipp - he was subbed on against the best team in the league. Maybe some have read into that.wahine wrote: ↑21 Aug 2019, 08:02 i was expecting price rises and falls sooner in the game I do remember a few seasons ago if a player was handed a Red Card their price dropped almost instantly, and an instant punishment for the managers that owned them. I’m hoping we can have faith in the stats as I do try to use them, rightly or wrongly, in judging when to execute transfers I’ve already decided I want to make (not purely for price rises, more attempting to time the market).
Back to the OP question - last year was my first year so I’m struggling to decipher if the increased activity I’m doing early on is down to increased price activity or just me generally up to speed with it this time around. I certainly wouldn’t say it’s dropped though, and have found myself cursing that I’ve not made a move sooner (hence the above timing the market attempts).

It looks like only 18 players have risen so far, which doesn’t seem a lot, whilst 98(!) haven fallen. The vast majority of those fallers have/had minimal ownership.....perhaps it’s the NTO threshold which has been aggressively tweaked?

Re: More price changes than last season?
It is usually the case that we have way more fallers than risers and it doesn't take many NTO for those on small ownership to drop. 98 doesn't seem that unusual compared to prior years but I have no data to back that up

Yep to always being more Fallers as Managers Bandwagon.....
The main things this season are a cheap Fwd bagging 4 in 2, MU's CF being a 7.5 mid and the belated "Sterling is great" thing.
I've started to peruse the Fallers and there are a few "bargains" to be had in due course.

Re: More price changes than last season?
I cannot back it up by evidence, but I feel that the outstanding performers were defenders last year at the beginning of the season. Hence I believe that transfer activity in the first two GWs last season was somewhat lower. (no of wildcards). This season a lot of teams seem to have been set up with heavy investment in Liverpool/Man City/Everton defenders (not backed up so far by points scoring - except Everton), whilst the premium strikers or midfielders (other than Salah) were not considered to the same extent. Goalscorers after two GWs:
2019/20
Pukki 4 goals
Sterling 4 goals
Barnes 3 goals
Kane, Aubameyang, Agüero, Martial, Rashford 2 goals
2018/19
Agüero 3 goals
Mane 3 goals
Richarlison 3 goals
Pedro, Pereyra, Pogba, Wilson 2 goals
Therefore I believe that transfer activity is higher overall this season. People are afraid not to get enough premium players into their team. First GW was also a very high scoring week, which adds to the rush.
According to Fantasy Football Fix 4.5% of people used their WC in GW2.

Re: More price changes than last season?
I just saw this on Fantasy Football Fix:
Number of price changes in GW2:
2015/16: 209
2016/17: 184
2017/18: 123
2018/19: 168
2019/20: 100 (so far)
It certainly felt more!
