Playing GW31

Post by raoul » 20 Feb 2019, 11:46

Suggested by Stemania on another thread, so I thought I would do the deed since I have a personal interest.

GW31 target lineups anyone?

I guess there are 2 different things going on here - those who will Free Hit and therefore care not a jot about the need to create this lineup in advance, carrying players forward, or having a bench beyond 1 sub, and those who want to build towards GW31 to carry into GW33 and possibly beyond (who might be storing assets on the bench in the blank weeks).

I think it has to have 3 Chelsea / 3 Liverpool really. So perhaps a FH team could do the following:

Fabianski/Heaton Boruc
Robertson Luiz Tarkowski Diop Ake
FAnderson Hazard Salah Mane Fraser
Higuain Barnes King/Wilson

Of course could have Firmino in there too instead of Mane. Lots of variations available with similar points potential because we're all going to captain Salah.

Would be good if Arnie starting showing some fight/quality before GW31.

Unless there is "all change" @ Chelsea, I'll probably be going 3 Liverpool, 3 Bournmouth, 3 West Ham, Vardy + 1 other (FH)

if you want to build it towards GW31 (even leaving alone GW33 form the moment),
it of course depends on who you have NOW....

I haven't thought a second about it so far,
I currently have playing GW31
-
Lascelles NEW, van Dijk LIV
Salah LIV, Anderson WHU, Richarlison EVE
Mitrovic FUL

I'd need 5 players to field 11 (not mandatory): 1 GK, 1 DEF +3 D/M/F (max 2 each)
Having already taken a hit for GW27, I'll have 4FT availabe till GW31
I'd have to take a hit to build up a full albeit benchless XI (or a GK-less 10 outfield + 1 bencher? :?)
Or I play in 10-men witout hits, if bringing in 1 LV & 3 CHE I'd also comply with the 3+3 SK's "must have" ;) :)

I can see plenty going with 8/9/10/11 players using only free transfers but the strongest teams will be the FH ones. It's just a question of how much difference it will make.

3 LIV
3 WHM
2 BOU
1 EVE
1 CHE
1 BUR

plus an assortment of min price players on the bench.

Of course to all of that. I won't be FH'ing GW31 so won't have those players. But if you look at Chelsea's opposition I think it's prudent to invest in them. None of the teams bar Liverpool can really be trusted to bring home the bacon but Chelsea are the best of the rest surely.

For people that are FH'ing, I really think it is a case of 'must have' 3*Chel and 3*Liv but others obviously have different opinions.

I have to say it's a little pointless talking about who you have now, else it becomes RMT. It's who we'd ideally want or prioritise as we can't have everyone unless we're FH'ing.

The point I was trying to make Finisher was how much the teams that get 11 out through a natural process will expect to lose out to those FHing. Some will be happy that they have 11 out but they will still be expected to lag behind a bit, so might want to worry less about getting to 11 and concentrate elsewhere.

I think every hit is worth it in BGW, assuming you still have chips for future gameweeks like most of us have. Even if I had 0 players going to play in BGW, I'd just take ten hits (plus 1 FT) to field 11 players instead of 0 players. Yeah, that would cost 40 points, but I would get 22 points for minutes played plus all the points those 11 players would score in that gameweek (positive and negative points).

The team I'm now aiming to have is pretty much what I think I'd FH to as it happens, so may as well post: New plan:

Cheap GK
Liv, Che, Lei
Salah, Mane, Hazard, Fraser
Higuain, Vardy, Arnautovic

with TAA, Maguire, Alonso/Luiz and Fabianski/BOU my likely specifics.

Btw, has anyone else noticed that 4m Boruc has been playing instead of Begovic recently? I wonder if it'll stay that way.

Yep Boruc is a steal especially given Bournemouth run coming.

I presume you will WC shortly after 31 so have no need to save blanking assets on your bench in 31?

For those of us without a WC there is the question of do I bench a Pogba type for 31 and 33 (And in 32 will FH so...) or sell to give more funds for the 31/33 weeks, knowing another transfer then needed to get him back.

Yeah, I've got Patricio to Boruc pencilled in for GW30 currently.

Providing nothing goes drastically wrong in the next few weeks I should have the following for GW31/33

Fabianski
Chilwell Pereira Ake
Salah Mane Hazard Fraser
Firmino *Bmouth* Higuain/Vardy

Ake could be a Chelsea defender, and I am unsure of my 3rd ST spot. All of that can be done with 1 hit.

FH31

Post by swadd1er » 01 Mar 2019, 10:20

I thought i’d get a thread going to discuss GW31 with those who are using FH

I’ve got all chips left to use but I’m currently planning my current team with 30/DGW32 in mind. Currently have 3 Wolves and 2 United so I’m not far off what I’d want for 32 as it stands.

In terms of free hit I’m considering the following:

Fabianski (HUD)
Boruc(NEW)
Schar (bou)
Robertson (ful)
WH defender (HUD)
Pereira (bur)
Luiz/Rudiger (eve)
Hazard (eve)
Anderson/Maddison (HUD)/(bur)
Mane (ful)
Salah (ful)
Hayden/Schneiderlin (bou)/(CHE)
Vardy/Arnie (bur)/(HUD)
Higuain (eve)
Rondon (bou)

Won’t be too far away from that and will potentially use the TC on Pogba GW32, saving WC and BB for the later DGW.

Re: FH31

I'm preparing to play 31 rather than FH, so maybe I should be quietly escorted away from this thread. However, I do of course have an interest in the same players - it's just my budget is likely to be lower given I may be storing the likes of Pogba on my bench. And the fact that my GW31 players also need a GW33 … but that's my problem.

In addition to your list above, I suggest:

- Barnes of Burnley (LEI)
- King or Wilson (NEW)
- Brooks or Fraser (NEW)
- Gudmundsson (LEI)
- TAA (ful)

Am liking the look of your guy Almiron but midfield is the one place where these seems to be an abundance of choice.

Would take a fair bit for me to trust Arnie. And I am only playing Felipe Anderson because I already have him, and HUD is too much to resist.

West Ham defender v HUD … who's the best option do you think?

My GW31 XI plan (11 from these 12, I want a sub):

Fabianski

TAA
Pereira
Chilwell
Rice

Salah
Mane
Anderson
Brooks

Higuaín
Vardy or Wilson or King
Barnes

Very similar to you, swadd1er, I'm definitely freehitting in 31. Apart from the Liverpool players I've already got plus Luiz and Rondon there is nobody else playing in gw31 who I would want to commit to beyond that gameweek.

I'm also free hitting in GW31, but haven't really given a great deal of thought to the players I want for that week. I don't really see the point in doing so - that's the thing about the free hit, it doesn't really require planning in advance.

Besides, I'm too busy concentrating on building the 15 for my planned BB in GW32.

I might have to take a couple of hits to get a competitive side out in GW33, maybe not. I'm wildcarding in GW34.

My apologies admins I did not notice this thread. Will see how Almiron gets on against West Ham and Everton. He could well be an option for 31.

Depending on how 35 develops I could be looking at FH31, 3 Utd and 3 Wolves for 32 (possible TC), WC34 and BB35

FH, with a first 11 in mind of

Fabianski
Robertson, Rice, Diop
Salah, Mane, Hazard, Fraser
Vardy, King, Wood

Tripling up West Ham is gambly, but Huddersfield at home worth a punt?

Are you trying to catch up? If so, could work a treat. If not, then it's not a particularly safe play. If West Ham concede, you probably negate having a great week.

There's a few options from a few clubs worth considering, which makes FH interesting; could do spectacularly well or fall on it's face. B'mouth have Wilson/King, Fraser and probably Brooks, Burnley have Barnes/Wood, Heaton, perhaps Tarkowski, Palace could do out the cup so Newcastle options are a possibility, Leicester have a few options obviously, and that's not even including any Liverpool or Chelsea.
