GW33 - Hope for the best
Ah yes, that time-honoured strategy. :lol: :wink:
Yeah - I boxed myself in, didn't plan far-enough ahead to get enough players for GW31 + GW33 - which would have been the clever move (I think).
It may not be as bad as I fear by the time we get to GW33 .... but we'll see :wink:

I did wonder, and it was late, and I decided to sleep

Early tinkering with a cheap bench, 11 doublers and a bit of flex (£0.5m or so) could look something like this:

Lloris
Shaw - Otamendi - Azpilicueta - AWB/Doherty/ANOther
Pogba - Sterling - Hazard
Rashford - Aguero - Higuain

Looking for a way to shoe-horn Son in there. Or maybe Sissoko in the AWB slot, nicking a bit of cash from Lloris being the obvious place to look.
Going for Kepa or Ederson is also possible. Not sure how much of an advantage it is wrt the defender space created, but if there’s uncertainty around Otamendi/Laporte by then it might offer certainty.

Ah yes, that time-honoured strategy. :lol: :wink:
He's almost there, leave him alone. :x

GW30-31 - Take quite a few hits and hope for the best;
GW32 - Take more hits, play the TC and hope for the best again. TC is Hazard who only starts once and manages 6 points in total whilst my VTC Sterling (my original choice) manages 35 points. Claim that I got the strategy right but was just hugely unlucky with my TC decision; moan incessantly about unfair swings and calculate that I am 200 points worse off because of three simple decisions made during the season. Imply that I would be well inside the top-1k if those 50/50s had gone my way. Also imply that it's all fine and that FPL is a game I have lost interest in (even though I know that's complete BS);
GW33 - Take a few more hits because I wrecked my GW33 team taking hits in GW32; alternatively an unplanned and panic-driven FH. Have give up hoping for the best; it's the hope that kills you. :(
GW34 - WC because I can't be bothered thinking about it any more. Ignore all the good advice I get from Joccki and successfully utilise his bad suggestions only;
GW35 - Take some more hits because some players got injured and one was sent off in GW34; alternatively use my FH the week after a wildcard to the bemusement of most sound observers. Hope against hope that my differential DGW selections can produce a huge boost for me. They don't;
GW36 - Start looking about me for who has done well so I can make comments about FPL being "all luck"; at the same time fail to captain Salah when he gets 24 points against Huddersfield and many have used the TC because he's no longer in my team after my ill-planned differential wildcard;
GW37 - take some hits to maximise my exposure to Brighton and Cardiff's extra DGW and hope very hard for the best; the game finishes 1-1 and the only goal involvement I gain is a Duffy own-goal, meaning I manage to get a 1-point captaincy from him that week;
GW38 - Give up and do nothing. Then decide at the last moment to give it one last go and take a -12 that costs me more points but does help the Compadres win the H2H League for the 2nd season in succession. Claim that I only play FPL for the sidegames nowadays. Hope for the best for next season but don't let on, even to myself.

That's how I'm lining up for it anyway. The Nerobefehl has been issued and unlike Speer I am going to carry it through like the time-honoured strategy that it is. So pick the bones out of that, PB. 8-)

Any one of seven or eight could win. Even a team from a bit further back with a decent run, although you’d think one of the above would keep it together and pull through.

Thanks for the post outlining probable doubles. Really helpful

Brighton have an extra game to slot in somewhere. So potentially yes. Not definite

Thanks for doing that, I'm in.

Come and join, all chips left or not, and regardless of overall rank. Some glory can still be salvaged this season :D

Who will successfully bridge over troubled waters and be crowned the champion of the run in?

I'm interested to see how it all works out, good luck everyone.

Yes, but only if Brighton beat Millwall in the FAC QF I think. If they lose, everything should fit into GW32 & 35. If they win, most likely Brighton & Cardiff get an extra game in GW36 or GW37.

Yeah I learnt it recently. It'll be my word of the week and then I'll forget the word exists or forget what it means and never ever use it again.

We are all guilty of living in our own bubbles, ignoring those worse off, thinking we could/should be doing better, after a long series of intermittent negative 'happenings'. Kind of like people in this country, in general. It's hard not to in this game though - Nice to be able to see the lighter side of things...[but then one shouldn't put in the time and effort!!]

If Brighton beat Millwall, my WC team will change. I think Ryan's got to be in there, and maybe Duffy too.

In the league, bringing a different approach. I have all the chips but no solid strategy...

I’ve been halfway between FH31 and FH32 for about six weeks now and still haven’t really decided.

19 in this new mini league already. Thanks for organising. Guessing it could swing around a bit as the chips get played in different weeks and orders.

And if anyone maxes out on a DGW TC that could be a big factor.

Thanks, have joined.

I am on FH31, TC32, Take hits 33, WC34, BB35

Currently have 3 City, 3 Liv, 3 United and 2 Wolves. Haz and Kola are my other 2 of interest.

Did Bennett (annoying suspended) to TAA this week.
A few minutes ago I considered doing a minus 12 - Shaw, Kola and Sane out for Luiz, Azpi and B Silva, but resisted.

Plan is to bring in Chels, probably for a hit for TC32, although not sure who for (poss TAA and Sane if he isn't looking like he'll play twice).

Let's see how we go!

I guess no DeLorean, but a United and Chelsea defender for GW32 for a -4 would be a start. Luiz and Shaw if you can afford it but I see you have 0 itb?
With just a quick look you have Jota, Rashford, Pogba doubling with a good chance of Hazard and Higuain as well so not a disaster if you get the captain right. Some will be playing TCGW32
Good luck anyway.

I was having a complete brain freeze as my worry was I couldn’t make any transfers before GW32 when I’ve just realised that if I play my free hit after the gw31 deadline I can then of course bring in who I want for DGW32.. plus I will know the blanks etc for the rest of the season.

Well, the free hit has been utilised. 1 chip down, 3 to go!!

Gone with a fairly standard (I would imagine?!) template team for a 31FH team. 3 Pool, 3 Chelsea, 3 W Ham with 2 Leicester to complete the starting XI.

Bit of rubbish on the bench!!

Fab, little pea and Snoodgrass for W Ham.

No Bournemouth although considered one or 2 of their players. Just fancy Rafa to put on a masterclass of the defensive variety away from home (like usual!). Would consider Wilson, Brooks or Fraser.

Chelsea x3 due to Everton lack of form and they will want to stay in the hunt for the fourth place.

It's all subject to change of course but with price movements etc wanted to make sure I had a base to start and work from through out the week.

Are Many others free hitting this week or are most now set for 31/33 and potentially hitting for 32?

Sweet, well played Spurs.

CHE vs BHA confirmed for GW32 if City beat Swansea.
When do you think the remaining DGWs are confirmed? Next Saturday when three Cup matches are played, and the Brighton DGWs on Sunday then? Or when?

I think it affects our decision on whether to play WC32 or FH32. And preferrably I'd like to do it immediately on Saturday to catch all the price changes.

Well, I think we can just do regular transfers on Saturday, and then later decide whether we activate FH or WC? That should mean we catch all the price changes anyway, no?

I know we can't carry our price change advantage from FH32 to following gameweeks, but even 0.1m might eventually make a difference in GW32 itself.

Do the transfers soon as the week starts and take - points as they will be wiped out when you FH or WC which you only need to do when your certain.

Yeah, that's what I suggested in that post you quoted. I think it's doable, but I won't feel very comfortable taking so many temporary "hits" anyway (even though they get wiped out when I activate FH or WC)! :lol:
